The source materials for most plastics are fossil fuels. As fossil fuel firms lose their iron grip on energy markets, experts say, they're shifting to making plastic. Recycling is a narrative that allows them to present plastic as a clean product.

Tony Blair Institute report criticising the drive to Net Zero is a decidedly odd dossier. We won’t halt climate breakdown *without* phasing out fossil fuels & to suggest solution lies in more nuclear & carbon capture rather than renewables is costly & misguided

There is no more important challenge than the climate emergency.

That is why I will vote against Heathrow expansion.

A) use sunlight to drive photosynthesis in plants, let plants die, wait ~100 million years, dig up fossilized plants, burn plants, use heat to boil water, use steam to drive a rotating turbine, use generator to make electrons

Some good news to kick off the new year. Below is a summary of UK's electricity generation for 2024. A milestone year - wind outstripped gas generation and renewables (wind, solar, hydro) outstripped fossil fuels. The big story of course is that coal generation stopped altogether in September.
