Interested in politics, football and reading books. Boring centrist (left) dad. Professionally work in skills in an industry nobody has heard of.
@stephenkb.bsky.social very thoughtful morning call today. The massive cuts to the British Council are another concern for British soft power.

Meeting yesterday where younger colleagues did a bunch of Power BI presentations. I now know how my Granny felt when I showed her my Sega Mega Drive.

It's quite something how much of the Westminster political coverage writes about the devolved elections as if they are just a plot point in their own narrative. Not events with real consequences for public services that people use, and as one of those people this irks me.

Shame about the Scottish line out. But no regrets about visiting Rome. Magnificent place.

If you think that Scotland performance was bad on the telly, at least you're not trying to find a toilet in the pissing rain in Rome.

An interesting graph: we face by far the deepest defensive low blocks of any team in the league (look at how much space opponents give Man City - tossers). We also play with the highest defensive line.

If they're concerned about authenticity, wait till they see the inside of the TARDIS.
The BBC is guilty of “shoehorning” diversity into shows like Doctor Who, making them feel “preachy” and “inauthentic”, a report has said ⬇️

Genuinely fascinated to know how French media will report the leak of Macron's text.
not only is this an appalling take which attacks Starmer for the actions of a lunatic and not the lunatic, but also strays well beyond ‘unbiased’ reporting

The fourth story on the BBC website as the world burns is Brooklyn Beckham's statement on his family. I wonder if in 1956 during the Suez Crisis The Times had a sidebar about Terry Thomas having a row with his sister.

Scott Bessent taking the piss out of the Europeans for starting a working group. He's going to be panicked when he reads Gordon Brown in The Guardian saying the democracies of the world need to write a short values statement.

And when Comms runs policy and not the other way around, it usually just ends up as bad Comms.
This is why there's a whole chapter in my book about the damage the grid has done to policy making.

The irony of this is spectacular. It would be funny if it weren't so grotesque.
ICE kidnapped 4 members of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, released one, and now "can’t locate" the other three.

America is at a legally impossible state where Native Americans aren't even considered Americans by ICE anymore.
