Tax cuts for giant corporations and the super rich.

Paid for by cuts to the social safety net for everyone else.

Trickle-up economics.

Just something deeply wrong when a government cannot follow processes and values that most human beings would deem minimally acceptable.
Metry and her husband of 4 years go to DHS to get their I-130 in motion. "Good news" a DHS employee told them, the form to start her naturalization was approved.

DHS employee asks the husband to follow him through a secure door. When it locks behind him, ICE detains his wife to deport her.
EXCLUSIVE: Terez Metry was 13 when her family fled to Tennessee from Egypt in 2011. Then, they left her behind. She only recently discovered she had an order of removal from 2011. But she was following the legal path to citizenship. On Monday, at a routine DHS meeting, Metry was detained.

I want to reiterate that this shit is nuts. A federal invasion of state-run elections, an intelligence community invasion of federal law enforcement, a White House invasion of a criminal investigation, and a president’s insane treasonable sore loser obsession all rolled up and muddled together.

Good. "But DHS isn't just ICE, it's also..." nope, wrong. DHS no longer serves any useful functions, the whole thing has been reassigned to repression. FEMA isn't even paying out to states. All DHS does is shooting, teargassing, facial recognition, and administrative warrants. Shut it down.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

They’re carrying out their anti-democratic plan to fuck with the midterms. We must overwhelm their plan.

I said this would be the plan (or part of it). Not only will some citizens be denied their right to vote, many more will be intimidated away from voting, or those who insist (as I certainly would) may end up clashing with federal agents.

This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office.
2) Elected officials rewrite the rules in the donors' favor.
3) Donors make a huge profit.
4) Repeat.

For the sake of democracy, we must get Big Money out of politics.

Pay attention. A president who lost a presidential election and then committed crimes to try to overthrow that presidential election is certainly a president who would do whatever he could to fuck with, take over, or try to cancel a midterm election.👇

Please read this. You may think, “why bother, I already knew they were Nazis.” Yes, the people who posted this are Nazis. But it’s important to keep track of where the Nazis are at. That’s what the observers all about. We need to do that informationally as well. This is an escalation.

This would be akin to President Biden speaking to the FBI agents right before they searched Mar-a-Lago. I'm sure Republicans would have been totally fine with that.
Breaking NYT:

Behind closed doors, Tulsi Gabbard met with some of the FBI field agents responsible for the Georgia election office raid.

During the meeting, she called Trump.

Trump addressed the agents on speakerphone, asking them questions as well as praising them for their work on the inquiry.

The conservatives used to shut down the government over a few hundred million dollars. Seriously.

Yet Trump blows billions and sues the govt for billions and gets a “free” jet from Qatar that the govt will spend a billion on then let him take it with him… and not a peep.

xAI is valued at $200 billion and burns through $1 billion/month in cash. The primary product development has been a chatbot that self-identified as "MechaHitler" then pivoted to production of nonconsensual porn, including of minors.

I do not consider this an optimal use of society's resources.
WaPo reports xAI deliberately loosened Grok's guardrails to boost popularity, sparking internal alarm. Employees had to pledge to work with "profane content." Even more disturbing, employees were listening to lurid audio conversations Tesla drivers had with Grok. Musk prioritized growth over safety.

Under pressure to boost its popularity, Elon Musk’s xAI loosened guardrails and relaxed controls on sexual content, setting off internal concern.
