Thanks so much, Gabino!

If people's book vouchers are burning a hole in their pockets, maybe they need a story about fire gods burning holes in evil politicians! 🔥🔥

My new book, Pyres has you covered! 💀

Whatever I give to the Girl she’s likely to burn my house down so probably something I could use like a fireproof jacket or an extinguisher.

It’s a time of giving #HorrorWritersChat

QUESTION TWO

Give a gift to your favourite protagonist/antagonist.

Introduce your character.
Tell us what gift you’d give them.

How would they react?

I’m Kimberly Davis Basso, I write horror across genres, and for Christmas horror I favor the classic ghost stories by Dickens- yes A Christmas Carol but he wrote loads of them. Weird Women is an anthology I also associate with the holidays for some reason.

It’s that time again #HorrorWritersChat

QUESTION ONE

Introduce yourself.

Share the horror subgenres you write.

And recommend a festive season horror story you’ve enjoyed.

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing a text, writing an email, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing since the dawn of time.

We're at day 22 of #artAdventCalendar.

630 participants have posted nearly 8000 images.

An average of 360 per day.

97% of them have AltText.

If we can do it. So can you.
IN VALEN'S NAME, USE ALT TEXT FOR YOUR IMAGES.

You want to prove you're down for progressive causes? Do the most basic fucking thing ever and use alt-text. Also, use it to describe the image and provide context so that the people who rely on alt-text can experience your image as intended.

Writers: ugh I love the writing process but hate promo

Tech: let’s take away ALL the writing bits and leave you with nothing to do but promo AND no will want your book cause it’s AI crap so the promo won’t work no matter how much of your soul you sell is that good? Did we fix writing? High five!!!

Just read the 2nd issue. Concerned about both dogs Yeu Yeu & Manx & the wolves. Odd for wolves to take a sheep & chickens when the lack of humans should mean loads of game for them.
🖤 this bit & the art: “knowing a little about everything… isn’t as substantive as knowing everything about a little.”
Currently reading The End Times Issue No. 1
Concerned about the missing dog Yeu Yeu.

It’s simple:

Create something yourself and its existence validates you as an artist. Share it or don’t.

Practice. Creative effort feels great. Full.

Take someone else’s work and you are not an artist but you are a thief and a sham. That validation you’re seeking can never exist. Empty.

Not to jump on discourse, and I know I am but a lowly peon when it comes to the swath of authors in the industry, but maybe if you hate writing something, it shouldn't be in your book?

This is obviously an extremely BROAD generalization but why would people enjoy reading it if you hated writing it

Every time I see some AI nonsense, whether it’s a take, an ad, an industry org losing its mind, whatever- I’m sharing my human made work.

If they are gonna shovel that sh*t at us the least I can do is give you an alternative.
