Dear Diary,
It’s been midnight for longer than I can remember, longer surely than the sixty three minutes since sunset. Will we ever see the sun again? I fear we will linger here, staring into the dark, straining our pupils toward dawn.

Tonight's the night!!! If you're in Portland, stop by the Rose City Book Pub between 4 and 9 pm to hear nine amazing authors read and to share your own work! Let's gather to raise money for hungry people in Oregon -- and to have a really terrific time.

Curious if anyone knows a better way to start the week than stepping out of bed into a puddle of dog sick?

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

On the way to work today I saw an egret, and on the way home a red tailed hawk, and in between the herd of deer that regularly visit the crossing. Lovely day.

Oh I can’t count the things I ruined today. I ruined business, I ruined gravity, I even flippped off the “other” light switch so the near one doesn’t work the way you think it will. I’m gonna go to bed soon, stalk someone in their dreams to ruin those, get up tomorrow and ruin a bunch more stuff.

Yes and thank you kind sir for sharing this. We are so far too busy ruining things to brag about it. Also, while I am a feminist, as we all are, I can say, without a doubt, that men outshine women in the ruining things department by a landslide. Really. Take some credit boys. Take all the credit.

I believe I speak for all teachers & students of Chicago literature when I say that Judge Sara Ellis opening her judgment against government goons in Chicago with all of Carl Sandburg's poem "Chicago" fills me with joy. My favorite line is "building, breaking, rebuilding": We will rebuild from here.

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Miss Twiggly’s Tree.
Brilliant. She was this recluse who lived in a huge tree with her dog and some bears who’d come by to visit and everyone in town was like who’s the weirdo? And then a flood came. And everyone came to the tree and she rescued them.
Love it still.
