A deeper problem is that the American (bipartisan) political establishment actively reinforces this dynamic itself. I recall when Jayapal called Israel a "racist state' in July 2023 and over *40* House Democrats signed a statement calling it antisemitic to say that.
The problem with having an intelligent discussion on Israel and Gaze is that a lot of people on both sides are just completely nuts. Neither will respect a distinction between Israel as a state and Jews as a people.
An essential part of the term “blood libel” is that it was an accusation made against Jews with no proof or evidence. Those accusing the state of Israel of committing genocide have marshaled extensive evidence. It demeans the term “blood libel” to compare them.
