Former UVA president Jim Ryan, who resigned over the summer due to pressure from the Trump Administration, just shared this 12-page letter with the Faculty Senate, detailing his experience with the Board of Visitors and DOJ.

It's a surreal--and troubling--read.

For those applying to NIMH - how are you handling the data management plan factor 6 (with regard to the NIMH requirement for a “validation timeline”) if you’re not collecting large scale genomic data (but instead ihc, behavior, etc)? I can’t find an example on this anywhere!

When I was at NIH and shutdowns loomed, it was discovered that the administration was planning to shut down PubMed. The head of NCBI called the powers that be and pointed out that this would threaten patient safety

Who knows what will happen now

In particular, I looked a those award where the title of the grant changed.

Warning: The results are just what I expected, but oooph...

10 years ago today, Steve Silberman's groundbreaking book NeuroTribes was published. It changed how the world discussed autism and inspired many autistic people to write their own books.

Stay tuned for information on a 10th anniversary edition coming very soon.

Today’s SCOTUS decision allowing parents to opt their children out of books with gay characters is a step backward.

Kids deserve to learn about the real world – and that includes #LGBTQIA+ people. Erasing our stories doesn’t protect children; it teaches them that some lives don’t matter.

Grants at Columbia unfrozen at 9:30 this morning...

Refrozen at 2:30 this afternoon with instructions to undo all of the releases done earlier.

It like the 7th graders in detention broke into the Principal's Office...
🚨 After more than three months, Columbia University is no longer frozen out of NIH funds, per source.

Terminated grants will not (yet) be reinstated, but money should begin flowing otherwise, I'm told.
Per source, NIH has been instructed to hold off from issuing ALL awards to Harvard, Cornell, Columbia, Brown, and Northwestern (including med schools)

Agency staff have also been instructed to not speak about this funding freeze to grantees and applicants
