Hopefully some people pledged a substantial amount per sack. OK I havent seen a football game in a long time but that seemed like a lot of sacks.
Seattle fans are no doubt happy with the win, but it's hard to objectively describe that Super Bowl as #AGoodGame. Luckily, @joshgondelman.bsky.social and @emmasandoe.bsky.social inspired better from it. Here's to @chirla-org.bsky.social and the New England Patriots' dumbest winning season.

Until recently, only regicides suffered the cruel fate of death by field goal.

The fun part is over. Go Seahawks.

There was a commercial saying we're not allowed to describe the game??? I haven't watchwed football since the last time the Seahawks were in the Superbowl but surely we're allowed to describe the game and especially the halftime show? This isn't the SATs?

As a Spanish teacher, do I have the opportunity to say to my students tomorrow that if they work hard, one day they'll be able to understand Bad Bunny's halftime show as well as I did?

The show was incredible.

I love comics as a genre and this might be the best one I've ever seen
People forget the Kate Beaton comic the "Poe looking suspiciously at a letter" meme comes from is also a devastating read on Jules Verne.

My Muppet Show host picks off the top of my head:

Annie Murphy, Pedro Pascal, Danai Gurira, Tom Holland, Paul Giamatti, Lakeith Stanfield, Helen Mirren, Olivia Colman, Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel Bloom, Zohran Mamdani
My Muppet Show host picks off the top of my head:

Janelle Monáe, Margot Robbie, Michelle Yeoh, Ryan Reynolds, Ncuti Gatwa, Ian McKellen, Ted Danson, June Squibb, Selena Gomez, Donald Glover, Orville Peck, Ron Funches, Kristen Bell, and all of Alasdair's picks, but esp. Michael B. Jordan.
My first answer to every question like this is Henry Rollins.
But off the top of my head; Jessica Williams, Josh Johnson, Denzel Washington, Michael B Jordan, Robert Downey Jr (Who would either not get it or get it to a frankly terrifying degree), Hangman Adam Page and Stanley Tucci

I have another story that I wrote out by hand, then never typed up before moving to Maryland. Then I lost the manuscript, then I found the manuscript, but then I still never typed it up. It's historical fiction but also a mystery. Which, a huge percentage of mysteries are historical. More than half?

I just completed my first-ever revise and resubmit! I am pleased because the feedback I got was very apt and full of good observations. Also because this story is a bit of an oddball I came up with in response to a prompt, with the result that it will have a hard time fitting many publications.

I was talking to one of my students a while ago (with the storm I haven't actually seen a student in a while) about white noise vs. brown noise vs. pink noise and how I didn't know the difference. I wondered why there was no green noise or blue noise.

In the middle of thinking up an idea for a VERY depressing story, suddenly my knuckles are strangely grazing against a feeling similar to joy.

Also I kicked coffee and I'm lightly homicidal.

also this story contains the sentence "There is no suggestion that Veronika’s skills are evidence of the evolution of an ominous new species of super-cow," surely an early front-runner for sentence of the year
people are makin cow tools jokes about this and why not, but as a longtime believer in the sentience of non-human animals and great lover of cows in particular, I hope people will check out the story in full

My favorite Twitter prompt was "RT this with your home river," so reskeet this with your home river.

After a rejectionful 2025, I am starting 2026 off with an acceptance! My short story "A Sap Made to Order" will appear in the forthcoming issue of The Literary Hatchet.

After a promising end to 2024, I didn't have any short stories accepted for publication in 2025. But I wrote a handful more.
