It took a huge amount of vision to see the potential of what this park could deliver in the aftermath of Sandy, and to see it realized is so rewarding. Huge credit to the local leaders, NYCHA TAs, and community organizers who made this a reality when no one believed it could be done.

This is about restricting artistic expression and blocking Americans from accessing diverse cultural and political information. Once the crackdown on free speech here takes hold, he can’t have free speech from other countries coming in.

Elections are the practice of democracy. In the face of fascism, strong and healthy elections are the best tool we have to enact the will of the people. If you can’t respect election results, you are fundamentally incapable of protecting freedom and fighting for our democracy.

This is disturbing from Ezra Klein. Not just because Kirk’s hateful and violent rhetoric is bad on it’s own, but it calls into question what Klein thinks politics is for. Is it for fighting on the internet, or making laws that govern a free and safe society? Kirk did the former, not the latter.

I’m sorry, I’m not a military expert so I may be wrong on this. Do we send U.S. troops to other countries to stop crime there? I thought it was a different reason, but again, I could be wrong.

Energy bills are rising nationwide, and Trump and the GOP are to blame. They rolled back clean energy incentives and greenlit an AI surge, pushing costs onto working families and deepening economic & environmental inequality. I break it down in TIME today: time.com/7312151/ener...
Energy Costs are Rising. Trump and Big Tech Are to Blame
On the campaign trail, President Donald Trump promised to cut energy costs in half. Now, energy costs are skyrocketing.

The main job of elected officials is legislators who need to use technical and precise language, a context in which these phrases are appropriate, even necessary. This advice may be ok for a PR flack, but it’s not serious. These people are out of their depth, we can’t let them weigh us down.

Fantastic article by Michael Kimmelman. His understanding of the political stakes and social impact of these projects is unparralleled, and his perspective is so needed as we face challenges that need urgent public attention.

Of course, I am biased, but it's also nice to read people like the park.

We are so lucky this story came out just in time to plan couples Halloween costumes. Who will be the envelope of cash to my open Herr’s potato chips bag?
A former top City Hall advisor and current campaign confidante to Mayor Eric Adams attempted to give money to a reporter from THE CITY following a campaign event in Harlem Wednesday.
Eric Adams Advisor Winnie Greco Handed a CITY Reporter Cash Stuffed in a Bag of Potato Chips
THE CITY reported the incident to law enforcement and was promptly contacted by the Brooklyn U.S. attorney’s office.

It’s cool that tariffs are acting as a sort of backwards interest rate, balancing inflation with unemployment by making them both worse.
Breaking news: US inflation held steady at 2.7% in July, confounding economists’ expectations of an acceleration driven by the tariffs Donald Trump has slapped on US trading partners. on.ft.com/4fH28s4

The term for this policy is “squeezing the middle class.” It makes it so that you have to be extremely wealthy to access the open market and keeps people with low-incomes from having economic mobility.

I think a really important aspect is what this feels like for fans in the stadium. We don’t have commentary or replays so the play just stops and we have no idea what’s happening or why. It really takes you out of the experience and completely destroys the momentum of the game.
VAR needs a shot clock. 2 minutes max to review a play & if there’s nothing definitive to overturn we move forward. i’ve seen some EGREGIOUSLY long times recently, it has to change.

People are going to try to go toe-to-toe on gerrymandering, a fight they don’t believe in and are bound to lose.

The answer is district-less Congressional representation and abolishing the electoral college. You can’t let vestiges of inequity survive and hope to outsmart it later. Just end it.

Friendly reminder that Trump does not care about American jobs or American workers. His tariffs are about international affairs blackmail and they are neither protectionist nor even trade policy per se.
