NYC politics, interested in women’s sports, econ, and The Culture. Hoping to scroll without the doom.
As stupid as this is, I wouldn’t be too dismissive of this framing. Democrats in Washington run the real risk of appearing as collaborators and even if the America Party itself is a failure, if it successfully paints a “one-party system” in DC, Democrats will struggle at home in the midterms.

I was honored to present a Citation to Pastor Will of Trinity Lower East Side for his work to address food insecurity during COVID and for new immigrants.

Leading with care and compassion is always the way to make the safest and strongest communities, an especially poignant reminder today.

Democrats have this reputation for being nannyish word police and if you want an example of why see below ⤵️

I’m sorry but this is dumb.

If the government had been shut down during the market turmoil, Democrats would have had a major negotiating advantage on the budget and would have gotten credit for restoring stability.

Big thanks to Bellevue Hospital CAB for having me at your legislative breakfast. Healthcare is under attack and it’s great to join people dedicated to defending it. I also got to share an update on H+H’s LGBTQ+ health equity initiative I helped to get funded in 2019 and is still going strong.

It was an honor to speak in Times Square this week with Creatives Rebuild New York, a coalition dedicated to creating fair labor policies to support artists across New York State.

Brother in law sent me this video so the week between Christmas and New Years is pretty booked up.

East Side Coastal Resiliency walkthrough today showed progress in the storm protections and amenities coming soon to East River Park. I took some pictures of fun features, but doesn’t really capture the scale of the project.

Great speech at today’s NYC ETC workforce development conference by Jennifer Jones Austin of FPWA on how changes in policy and technology could affect the workforce. I loved her emphasis on structural deprivation as a political tactic and focus on care work to ensure good jobs are available to all.

I have no idea what is happening on the other app, but these TERF attacks on women’s sports have to stop.

While the pretense of anti-trans attacks “protecting women” is patronizing and offensive in its own right, it’s also clearly a lie.

I had the pleasure of joining the STARS Citywide Girls Initiative youth-led town hall discussing building community and self care with NYC Commission on Racial Equity Chair Linda Tigani. Great questions from these future leaders and an important conversation on making sure their voices are heard.
