New newsletter. This one got a little out of control, but the subject demanded it.

Tonight I am learning about Elizabeth Tashjian, artist and founder of the Nut Museum in Connecticut. She was a Christian Scientist who did the talk show circuit in the 80s and entertained audiences with the obvious double entendres and the suggestion that humans may have descended from nuts. 1/

Well done, all. 👏👏👏This decision amounts to blatant discrimination from the Adelaide Festival and they need to reconsider. Interference in arts events must stop. Artists will not participate in compromised events. #auspol
Writers withdrawing from Adelaide now also includes Helen Garner, Chloe Hooper and Sarah Krasnostein, according to Artshub. Also internationals Percival Everett and Vincenzo Latronico.

…and I still haven’t seen Sátántangó. RIP Béla Tarr, I’m sorry, I’ll get to you I promise. I’ve been thinking about that whale thing in Werckmeister Harmonies for years but have I seen that yet? NO. I was looking at my watchlist just now & got so overwhelmed. I’m running out of time, Mr Tarr, sir.
I hope this picture of my critters being highly judgmental helps ease your doomscrolling anxiety for a few seconds. 'Mother, we don't care that it's Bad Movie Wednesday, you promised you'd get around to Sátántangó this week.'

Late to the 2025 humble-brag thread thing, but here we are. I gave a lot of talks last year & I loved every one of them, but my favorite publication was this piece on archaeology in horror fiction for Nightmare Magazine, which was edited by the divine @wnwagner.bsky.social.
