Last year, my kiddo had a virus that gave him a sore in his mouth, and our pediatrician specifically said to give him popsicles.

Not that food needs a reason besides being food, but popsicles can be important in particular!
“Oh poor people can buy popsicles with food stamps” shut the fuck up the government gives perverts a trillion dollars in government money each year for pervert factories for billionaires the fucking popsicles are none of your fuckin business

I haven’t checked in about #25booksin2025 for a while.

I had a slow reading start to the year, but I started reading e-books on my phone on Libby, and it turns out I will read a lot of books that way. I crushed my goal.

Here is everything I read last month! I got some spooky books for October.

My first story for @coyotemedia.org is about the towns I grew up in, small cities that even I dismissed as being "too quiet" or "in a bubble."

Read about Albany and El Cerrito for Palestine, a group of neighbors that have created a joyful, mutual aid collective while organizing for Palestine.
Albany and El Cerrito Weren't Known for Protest ... Until Now
In two quiet Bay Area towns, organizers for Palestine are getting loud — and forming deep friendships along the way.

Since this whole debate is still happening, and since we are still not listening I will summarize what I understand the argument to be in the Lingua Franca of white nerds: Lord of the Rings analogies.
white cis men blocking people of color and other members of vulnerable communities because their risk factor is a lot different than ours is peak white nonsense.

It's also how I know they don't give a shit about us.

We went to Roller Derby today! We saw the San Francisco Rolling Dead face off against the Oakland Outlaws at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium. My favorite part was when there was a pause for technical difficulties and both teams joined together in a conga line around the track.

Newsom: We need to make Bay Area public transit so bad that everyone who has another option says “I’m not gonna use this.”

(No, he didn’t actually say this, but unless he follows through with his promise to provide a $750 million gap loan to transit, that’s what his actions will say.)

I got my Covid and flu shots today at CVS! There was a yes/no question when I made the appointment about whether I had a condition that put me at higher risk for getting Covid, but they didn’t ask for any more detail than that.

I was an Engineering major who took a Communication class as a GE requirement, liked it, took a few more, and got a minor in it.

I firmly believe that the skills I got from that Communication minor have been just as important to my career as the technical skills from my major.
I want people in college to take a class on something interesting, and have an unexpected formative experience that in no way becomes their explicit undergraduate focus. And I worry – I know – that this happens less and less often.

On top of this, if you're going to gen con TAKE A COVID TEST TODAY.

You don't wanna accidentally bring that over and infect 30,000+ people.
A reminder for anyone going to Gen Con next week:

Please MASK on the plane there, in the convention, in bars, restaurants, anywhere that isn't well ventilated!!!
