Watching the game tonight at my in-laws. I’ve been married for 20 years and opened up the coffee table to find that they’re gun enthusiasts! They’ve been holding out on me.

9: “hey dad, give me something to draw”

“A T-Rex, holding a popsicle. Sitting on the curb crying because he can’t reach his mouth and the popsicle is melting.”

9: “I can’t make him sitting. But ok”

The winner of this “best ideas” contest gets to keep both bass cases.

May the odds be ever in your favor,

Her Husband
Suppose you have two, very cushy string bass cases that you don’t plan to use again. (Seams are ripping out. Well used.) What would you do with them?

I was in Tulsa for work this week, and serendipitously was able to attend Sarah’s book signing. The book is stellar so far.
Got back from a 2000-mile book tour road trip from St Louis to Austin and Tulsa to learn that THE LAST AMERICAN ROAD TRIP is a USA Today Bestseller!

The popularity of the book is due to word of mouth promotion from my readers and I am VERY grateful. Thank you!

My kids were asking me for Harry Potter Trivia questions. I made up some junk, then acted indignant that they didn’t remember the scene.

Then I provided it as a prompt to AI, which barfed out a dollar-store fan fic.

Not *good*, but passable enough to troll the 9yo.
I've seen some people saying how "AI"-generated text is now as good as certain published authors, and honestly I think it's really brave for these folks to admit in public how poor their reading comprehension has to be

“Even if sometimes wrong” is a really important distinction here. No human educator would default to *convincingly lying* if they’re unsure of an answer. Crucially, LLMs are awful at “I don’t know”
I have to admit that I've been surprised at the level of hate at AI LLMs.

There is finally a tool that allows those without access to an advanced education to self learn, anywhere , anytime. To get answers to questions, (even if sometimes wrong) , that they would otherwise never have access to
Nag. Sorry. I can't abide the pocket lining any more. You've been a better billionaire than most, but at the end if the day, it's all just a meal ticket for you. Gross.

Ok, but. This, plus Canada and Greenland news, are an attempt to get us ok w/ the idea that maps are mutable. So we can occupy Gaza, kick Palestinians out, and “end the war in Ukraine” by condoning Putin. If we flood the news with this BS, then the other, more harmful stuff will seem equivalent.
Trump’s decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico may be upsetting to some, writes @giladedelman.bsky.social, but “in a democracy, values are determined by majority rule, and they don’t shift in only one direction. They can shift back”:
‘The Gulf of America’ Is the Wrong Fight to Pick
The more that politicians mess around with place names, the more important it is to respond according to consistent principles.

What's the consensus on what to do with your twitter handle? I've had my real name since '2007. I just deactivated the account. I'm leaning toward sacrificing it to the bots and letting that site cannibalize itself.
