Hello New Followers. I’m Karrie Fransman👋 a comic creator who fits comics into books, newspapers, dolls houses, jewellery boxes and virtual reality. I’ve created comics for Penguin Random House, The Guardian, the United Nations, The Times etc. More here: linktr.ee/karriefransman

The trees in the forest are teal and fade into the distance. There is a small cottage in the woods. This ‘Selves Portrait’ picture is made of painted paper and wood cut-outs. It was commissioned for Manchester Art Gallery and National Portrait Gallery Exhibition ‘Artists in the Frame: Self Portraits by Van Dyck and Others’ depicts the story of my many selves battling to be represented in the frame. The National Portrait Gallery made a little film about it which you can listen to here: https://youtu.be/ldvjN3q_L0w What is the true value of art in our society? This 4-page creation comic imagined Art as the rebellious child of Mother Nature and Father Civilisation. It is drawn in an Art Nouveau style with clean lines on red and green. It was commissioned for the Arts Council England magazine Create. For it was love that had bound Mother Nature and Father Civilisation together since before anyone cared to remember. And from this red, hot passion sprang 4 children: Science, Education, Economics and Art’. There are 4 additional pages not shown. 'United Against What Divides Us' is a comic I created for #dencitycomic on cities and protest crowds. A heartfelt thank you to the inspiring@zrinkabralo and @rosereira for sharing their stories and @jordancollver and Professor Colin McFarlane for their support and editing. DenCity is a research project based @durhamuniversity and funded by the European Research Council.
