Cartoon County
@cartooncounty.bsky.social
An association of over 100 cartoonists and comic artists in Sussex and around the world. Meetings and talks usually on the last Monday of the month in Brighton - http://www.cartooncounty.com
A quick recommendation for a comic we just loved from @fredeggcomics.bsky.social

Enjoy the artist’s memories and be sent off reminiscing yourself: c120s recording John Peel; tape-2-tape; picture discs; a life in vinyl.

Happy days.

The focus on Growth and Investors and exploiting IP and tax breaks to help Publishers Grow, places the white paper in the realms of Business in a way that is not intending to address the craft but curiously looks only peripherally at what the actual Industry needs for sustainability 1/3

This addresses the concerns I had (and much more) in my replies to John overnight far better than I could
So much potential when someone is able to talk in the language of funders and so much overlap with the interests of the makers, but very little looking away from profit+loss charts
First off, I think there are some brilliant ideas in here for publishers: tax reliefs, targeted business support and advice, a big push into export markets, all of these are great ideas. I hope they can make them happen.

This is a sad way to start a big celebratory weekend at Thought Bubble. Rachel supported so many graphic novels over the years

All at Cartoon County send our sincere condolences to her family and friends
“In all of this, of course, she was a newspaper’s dream."

Remembering Rachel Cooke (1969-2025). The Observer journalist was the heart and soul of the paper for 25 years. She leaves an extraordinary legacy.

Such a shame. I bought those first Quindrie books when they came out and was blown away by the quality. And they never dipped since. Small pressing takes so much time and energy
@quindriepress.com calling it a day is 100% understandable but not what we wanted to wake up to. Eve Greenwood built a fabulous publisher, working singlehanded throughout and that's tough! Our gratitude and best wishes join what will be a large emotional outpouring.
