Look, I lived through the Dot-Com bubble crash at the start of my internet career in 2000-2001 and man are there some similarities with the AI situation.

What continues to fascinate me about AI art is not necessarily that people are making it at all but rather the sheer number of them who keep insisting that they're the real artists now. Them! They're just as good as people who make art from scratch!

Every worker knows salaries are completely arbitrary and have nothing to do with with skills, abilities, societal contribution. It’s made up classism. What is real is using institutional bigotry to make an arbitrary thing even more punitive for minorities.

If Māori respond appropriately to racism, it's deemed "disruptive", "disrespectful". The expectation is that Māori should sit small and silent and reverent; grateful to be allowed entry. Anything other than servile is deemed "uncivil".
This is the worst punishment handed down EVER in our history. The worst on record was 3 days! When Tangata whenua resist, colonial powers reach for maximum penalty. This is a warning shot to all of us to fall in line. E kore rawa matau e tuohu!

It looks silly that this bowerbird built his bower this close to the road but there were branches out to the road before the tree got cut back, so it made sense at the time.

It's hard to explain to people outside of Dunedin just how huge this is. 500 people to a protest is a big deal no matter what the cause, couple that with 10°C & some of the most drenching drizzle you could image.

First time ever that I went to the march. Good vibes and great turnout given how hard many have been celebrating.

Relieved Dutton’s out? Handy reminder: Albanese’s Labor government is, at best, complacent, at worst, complicit in Israel’s genocide. Gaza is being bombed, starved, ethnically cleansed. Voting out morally bankrupt leaders isn’t enough—we must still hold power to account for the most vulnerable.
