multiple fedex packages were delayed and they are finally getting delivered - and it's looking like they will attempt to deliver (signature required) during the one 30 minute period that N. is leading a client meeting and can't get to the door, and of course i'm at the office today.

i had my first real day of work in a while and i am not doing well.

work being a nightmare (+ being denied a promotion for stupid org chart reasons despite getting "exceeds expectations") on top of my incredibly fragile mental health right now is really really bad.

PSA: there’s been an exploit for Signal and WhatsApp released that can be used to silently track you.

Temp fixes for both can be done in your settings:

For WhatsApp: Settings>Privacy>Advanced>Block unknown messages.

For Signal: Settings>Privacy>Phone number>Who can find me by number>Nobody

update: your dog dying and reading as your form of escapism makes up a lot of ground. up to 47 books read.
I don’t think I’m gonna make my goal of 50 books this year (I’m at 41) but honestly it’s not impossible.

i saw a guy at the gym with a “bucked up” bottle and thought it was a milwaukee bucks thing not a gym bro thing. (just looked up what it actually is because of this stupid bowl game.)

we picked up Frank’s paw prints (we got an ink one and a clay one) and the ink one looks like an angry bunny. truly cry-laughed when i saw it.

“speeding is fine” is in the discourse and gotta love this reply in one of the threads. sorry hun, your car cannot defy the laws of physics and your brain can’t react any faster than it can react.

I met Jello Biafra once (there's a photo buried in my archives I'm not about to spend hour to find) and he rambled about "the wankers" for an exceedingly long time considering we had just met and I was a nobody in the audience at a Tower Records in-store J Mascis performance performance during SXSW.
Jello Biafra is selling the 212,000-mile Toyota Celica he's driven around SF for 30 years, and launched the listing with this extremely weird video that consists of four minutes of Jello rambling about the car without any visual evidence of said car

i was too sad to mention this before, but Frank died exactly 7 years *to the day* after one of my other greyhounds died. Blink Dog was also a very good, goofy, sweet, black/tuxedo boy and also died very suddenly, although he was 11 years old so not quite as young.

It’s really rude for CPL/Libby to have the first Saint of Steel book in ebook but the rest only in audiobook

Also hoopla has the next 2 but can’t send to my kindle. Can I stomach reading on my iPad?

My partner found my old iPod and charged it a couple weeks ago and man, the albums on there are a moment in time encased in amber.

Also just a great device. It’s so hefty!
Apple, you really dropped the ball. Please bring back a music player that is not a phone or a watch.
My teen asked for an iPod for Christmas so he can listen to music without having to use a phone.

I fully support this concept bu how do you get music onto an iPod now that there is no iTunes?

aside from the obvious, what I’m learning from the puffy documentary is that he is a fucking *dork*. like no charisma, no charm. i never really paid much attention to him before and especially never saw him just talking or whatever.

I interviewed the DJ Priest, aka Padre Guilherme Peixoto, who went viral last month for his set in Slovakia at St. Elizabeth's Cathedral that included a video message from the Pope.

i just ordered us $1600 in espresso supplies (most of that being the espresso machine itself) for christmas yesterday, though I do admit one appeal is making decaf drinks for myself while N caffeinates himself to the moon.
Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

went to the gym this morning - my first time leaving the house since Sunday night

first time not seeing his face in the back door watching us pull out of the garage

first time coming home and not seeing him running to the door to say welcome home

my heart is ripped in half all over again
