When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.

I love this.
Word of the Day is ‘catchfart’ (17th century): an obsequious individual who sucks up to the boss and always follows the political wind.

I signed this petition in part because my next door neighbor's insurance company flew drones over her house, then sent her a letter telling her that unless she replaced her roof they would drop her coverage. And that feels sketchy to me.
Skyrocketing rates, dropped policies, and unpaid claims. The home insurance market isn’t working for consumers, and it’s time for that to change. Sign CR’s petition urging insurers to adopt the Homeowners Insurance Bill of Rights.
Americans deserve affordable home insurance
Fed up with skyrocketing home insurance rates? Demand home insurance companies adopt basic protections for all policyholders. Take action by signing Consumer Reports’ petition today.

I’m still shocked that stories like this which come out daily still get largely ignored. The most corrupt person to ever hold any public office in US history. I will keep posting them every day and try to amplify them, even when most media doesn’t care. www.wsj.com/finance/curr...

Of course, Google and Apple are also problematic. Was thinking of going back to a Nokia, but it seems like they’re making a deal with the orange clown, too. If anyone’s got a cell phone suggestion that avoids the big American tech companies, I’d love to hear it.
The richest man on earth owns X.

The second richest man on earth is about to acquire TikTok and his family could soon own both Paramount and Warner Bros.

The third richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fourth richest man owns The Washington Post.

See the problem here?

I didn’t know this, but it makes sense. Probably not great for lizards, either.
With halloween coming up, this is good to note! Let's think of our wildlife friends when choosing this year's decor 🦉

Trump hates to be the object of humor. He understands that humor can be a more powerful antidote to tyranny than any other form of criticism.

I'm sure he'd hate it if you shared this cartoon. [Cartoon by Jon Adams/The New Yorker]

But Speaker Johnson won't swear her in because then we'll have enough signatures to force the release of the Epstein files.

Seat Rep.-elect Grijalva. Release the files.

Congress Must End Trump Regime’s Dictator-Style Abuses of Power
Text SIGN PYVCJL to 50409 — I am writing as your constituent to demand urgent congressional action to stop President Trump’s ongoing abuses of power and reassert Congress’s constitutional authority. In a highly politicized address to top military leaders on September 30, 2025, Trump urged the armed forces to combat an undefined “enemy from within” and even floated using U.S. cities as “training grounds.” That rhetoric—echoed and amplified by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth—blurs the line between civilian life and military force and invites domestic deployment against political opponents. This is incompatible with the apolitical role of the military and the Constitution’s limits on executive power. Congress must draw a bright line now. The administration is also working to rig the political playing field: Trump has aggressively pushed mid-decade gerrymanders to entrench partisan advantage ahead of 2026, with Texas and Missouri advancing Trump-backed maps to net additional House seats. These efforts are the opposite of representative self-government. Congress must safeguard fair elections and condemn partisan map-drawing done for incumbent protection. Independent legal experts warn the executive branch is interfering in elections in unprecedented ways—targeting election administration and pressuring officials—further undermining the integrity of our system. Congress must conduct oversight and legislate guardrails to stop executive overreach. Finally, Trump’s use of lawsuits and fundraising structures to intimidate critics and convert political power into personal gain warrants investigation and statutory reform. Americans deserve clarity and accountability, not pay-to-play politics. I ask you to: 1. Hold immediate, public hearings on the President’s attempts to politicize the military and deploy it domestically; pass statutory limits reinforcing Posse Comitatus-style protections. 2. Block any “blank-check” spending deal that enables unlawful executive actions, and reassert Congress’s sole power of the purse with explicit anti-impoundment and anti-“pocket rescission” language. 3. Advance federal protections for free and fair elections and condemn partisan redistricting intended to lock in minority rule. 4. Investigate and, if warranted, impeach officials—including the President—who defy court orders, subvert Congress’s authorities, or weaponize federal power against political opponents. This isn’t about party—it’s about the oath you swore. Please act now to defend the Constitution and the American people.
