Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

My nana died this year, in August. She was 96. She still lived alone & was entirely self-sufficient, but she fell one night while walking to the bathroom & after she crawled to her phone & called my uncle at 2am & he took her to the emergency room, the doc said she shouldn't be alone anymore (con't)
