Third Amendment and bird law aspirations, mostly.
Abbe Lowell and his folks could probably easily get admitted to practice in the District of Minnesota but they are just getting admitted pro hac vice "for this occasion" only and associating with Thompson, who almost certainly knows the judge and other key players.

Yes. They are all representing Lemon, but Thompson is already admitted to practice in that court. He is local counsel (which may be required in that district/division) and he is also a criminal lawyer who would be very familiar with the procedures/judges there.

This is insane, banana republic level shit.
Breaking news: The FBI relied heavily on previously debunked claims of widespread election irregularities in Georgia as it persuaded a federal judge to sign off on plans to seize 2020 voting records from Fulton County, court documents show.

The FBI told a federal judge that it is investigating whether any “deficiencies” in Georgia officials’ handling of the 2020 presidential election were intentional.

“If these deficiencies were the result of intentional action, the election records identified in Attachment B are evidence of violations of Title 52 U.S.C. §§ 20511 and 20701.”

IF???

It’s almost as IF the entire point of this warrant affidavit is to show probable cause of intentional violations!!

"If the government may simply seize *someone* without due process, there is no check on its ability to seize *anyone*."

Perhaps the most fundamental check against tyranny. And it is gravely threatened.
BONUS RULING: Judge Thomas Johnston, a George W. Bush appoiintee in West Virginia, used a recent ruling to warn of the dangers of defying due process for immigrants because of what it could also mean for Americans. It's worth a read.

Here is my conclusion after sitting through Maxwell's deposition with her refusing to answer a single question about the men who raped underage girls, saying she would only do so for clemency.

She must immediately be sent back to the maximum security prison where she belongs.

The federal government has hundreds of innocent children imprisoned, and we are all just going about our lives as if that is acceptable. It's shameful. Fuck the trump regime and all of the republicans who enabled this to happen.
1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

She began to unravel soon after arriving at a detention center in Texas, wetting the bed after years without accidents, crying through the night and begging to breastfeed again.

Most of all, she wanted to be reunited with her cat, Milo. 1/

To be fair, Blackburn is really dumb. And hyper partisan. And rarely acts in good faith.

one thing i have noticed is a lot of folks do not seem to understand the difference between a presidential election and 435+ legislative elections. i have seen any number of people say that you could subvert the outcome this november by targeting “swing states,” which does not make any sense.
