“Fuck you, get off my property,” should be the default for ICE thinking they can use a hotel, restaurant or a bathroom anywhere in Minnesota

“Outside agitators” is how police tell you “that’s not your community out there” so it’s easier for you to stay home and excuse their excesses. But the folks at the Lutheran supper this weekend will see each other; they already know that it IS their community.
the wildest thing is right-wingers acting like minnesotans in videos must be outside agitators when we can all hear their accents. i don't think i could do that accent convincingly if i spent a year practicing. and neither would i wish to. have you heard that shit? craziest american accent

There are things you can do with GPUs. Physics simulations, pre-LLM stuff like DNNs and GANs, rendering 3D animation. But these are niche enterprise use cases and those enterprises have their GPUs already. There will be 100 data centers for every one data center that might be profitably repurposed.

Big news story this morning in college basketball. From the indictment: Fixers conspired with "more than 39 players on more than 17 NCAA Division I men's basketball teams ... fixed and attempted to fix more than 29 games" in 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. All players at the mid-/low-major level.

"I used an energy pulse to disable the arms holding the projectile weapons first, then noticed Hostile 3 leveling an irritant sprayer at us. My organic parts could survive the irritant but it would suck. I aimed a projectile at the side of the irritant canister closest to Hostile 3, so it would--"

Any DC who has a pair of twos can bluff Monken into folding a full house. His coaching style reminds me of junior officers losing their heads the moment a buddy gets shot in combat, and they panic and can't decide whether to charge or retreat. He should not be in charge of any NFL offense again.

Even if we stipulate that the President did hear this from a person -- and I am not, I am leaving room for "he just made that shit up" -- I definitely do not trust his judgment to decide what constitutes an authoritative & trustworthy source.
President Donald Trump made a vague statement Wednesday that he’s been told “on good authority” that plans for executions in Iran have stopped, even as Tehran has indicated fast trials and executions ahead in its crackdown on protesters.

How dare I look clearly at a flaming bowl of shit and acknowledge that the rice and beans in the other bowl had been in the fridge a few days, and were stale. How dare I apply judgment or pick a side.

Never mind that I was fucking right.

Every once in a while I remember my South-Park-infected pub trivia mate who insisted, during the 2020 Presidential campaign that "both sides were equally bad" and gave me an eye-roll when I said "No, Donald Trump is uniquely dangerous to the republic!" Like how dare I feel passionately.

I think Gas Town *specifically* is probably a janky implementation, the equivalent of a pre-Wright-Bros aero-velocipede or what have you. Someone will build something on Gas Town principles in the next year and it will kick ass. It may already be built.

Any chance the original author is from a society where status acknowledgement is more expected - say, China? There are anecdotes about Chinese netizens cranking out weird AI content for TikTok to get American clicks & follows. This might be a misguided version of that?

Not just the early-warning radar, either! We've got a USAF (or maybe Space Force now) presence at Thule, permission to pass through on military resupply flights... basically every possible military utility Greenland *could* serve for us, they already do.

Lamar has broken records throwing against teams who said “make him win with his arm”. If Flacco and Rodgers can still jog to the sticks a couple times a night, Lamar has a few years left.
