Ghost pipes. 12 x12 in, water soluble encaustic on black prepped wood board. #artadventcalendar I actually saw the bee pollinating the flowers. It's easy to forget they are flowers.

Day 6 #ArtAdventCalendar

I experimented with two contrasting glazes on this wheel-thrown raku-fired vase: an iridescent metallic blue with flashes of red-violet on the body, and a shiny white crackle on the wide rim and interior.

Day 5 of #artAdventCalendar - For the Manufactured Ecosystems art show about the future of pollination 🧪🐡🐝 I looked at what nature-inspired technologies exist or are already proposed or that I could envision to pollinate plants, faced with a precipitous drop in pollinator numbers. But, I am also 🧵

This glaze and pattern!
I did an archaeology degree and stuff I've had on my head since then keeps creeping into my pots!

Labyrinth and spiral design, inspired by European prehistoric rock carvings. A wax relief design on crank (textured) clay with a turquoise glaze.

Gorgeous image!
I love it when flowers show up in unusual positions and places, like this cardinal flower (Silene laciniata) that was growing downward over the face of a rock along a favorite trail.

Day 5 #ArtAdventCalendar
My first foray into learning pen and ink, using a crow quill nib and three different techniques (described in alt text) to illustrate the rare native fawn lily I found on Vancouver Island. I need plenty more practice to control the flow of ink.

Beautiful piece!
For #day3 of #ArtAdventCalendar a few Tahoma Agate pieces. Found near Mount Rainier, the blue, green, brown, and white colors in this agate sometimes create interesting stories.

The stone in this cuff, for example, looks like a storm brewing in a snow covered mountain valley.

Winter’s low angle light really makes your sculpture glow here. 🌾✨
Day 3. Titled. “Bending Still” these abstract “Grasses” in situ at the collectors just outside of Ottawa.

Lovely piece
Day 2 Medieval style panel designed to look like fragments being reused. Pieces were hand painted using traditional glass paint and a dip pen with silverstain added to the reverse to colour the flowers yellow. Then kiln fired before leading up.

Day 2 #ArtAdventCalendar
Every November, I plant an amaryllis bulb indoors, just to observe its spear-shaped stalk slowly emerge from the bulb, tipped with a bud that eventually swells and reveals a cluster of magnificent trumpet-shaped blossoms during the depths of winter.
