Open justice is supposed to enhance public trust + confidence in the justice system - but in this case it had the opposite effect.

What does the Supreme Court need to do differently to make sure COP observers have a better experience next time?

When open justice undermines public confidence: Scrutinising the Supreme Court
Justice is not a cloistered virtue; she must be allowed to suffer the scrutiny and respectful, even though outspoken, comments of ordinary men

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?

on BBC 6 Music News just now, reporter Danny Shaw said on immigration 'there need to be tougher restrictions'. Maybe poor editing but he seemed to be expressing his own opinion, not quoting anyone
November 8, 2025 at 6:39 PM
great discussion here. Completely agree that it seems VERY unlikely 6 Music listeners want to hear negative stuff about immigration on the half hour. I don't! and I bet the presenters don't
*Again* the top story on BBC 6 music is about immigration

How is Shabana Mahmood wanting to introduce a ‘Danish style’ system for refugees the top story this morning?!?

The obsession of 6 Music news on immigration and asylum is frankly bizarre

well... SOME very fortunate pensioners, can't be many who rake in >£125k
only in the small print of this article do they make clear that the pensioners paying an extra £2,500 of tax would have to have
“earnings over £125,140”

I know many pensioners are asset rich but how many have income at that level?

While it is significant that New York can elect a Mayor who is & so identifies as an immigrant leader, the tendency to conflate Zohran Mamdani & Sadiq Khan as Mayors who are Muslim in high profile national/global cities (by opponents but also fans + media) overlooks significant contrasts
Mamdani: "New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant."
