yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.

Under new Trump admin SSI rules, if a family lets a disabled loved one live with them to save money, the gov’t counts that as "income" and slashes their benefits by ~$300/mo. They are literally penalizing families for taking care of each other. 400k+ people will suffer. Cruelty is the point.
