🧵 Were you one of those straight Irish people dancing in the streets, after the same sex marriage referendum?

Time to start campaigning again. This time so that trans adults & kids get timely & best practise healthcare.

Scarily the HSE has signed up to the widely dismissed & inhumane UK model [1]

I can attest to this being the norm with the HSE. I don't know a single trans person who trusts the NGS. And from what I hear, plans are to make it even worse.

GDPR, gender identity & why the UKSC decision doesn’t apply to Ireland... “… without coming undone from the principles of data protection, the UK state can't lawfully take actions to process people's gender data in a way that ignores their lived experience in favour of their gender status at birth.”
New Gist: Trans rights are Data rights

An unusually long Gist on the data protection implications of the UK Supreme Court's decision to define what is the meaning of the word 'woman' in a single UK Act.

The Gist: Trans rights are Data rights
A UK court has made a decision defining genders which has put it at odds with a less noticed, more important, decision from the CJEU. This is the Gist.

So I’ve had my 1st Black History Month event cancellation because of “DEI concerns,” citing a fear of frivolous suits. Funny thing is, I don’t do DEI, I’m a historian of the Black American experience. A reminder that DEI is just a dog whistle about suppressing history, if you need a reminder.

Okay, the end of the year is in sight, so maybe it’s a good time for us to tell you about our financials, here at Dublin Inquirer HQ at the Digital Hub on Thomas Street in Dublin 8. We ask for transparency from others, so some transparency from us is good too, right? 1/

My 17 year old had a GP visit this morning. We popped into the chemist in our small border town on the way, to pick up his injection. The delivery was late so the lovely pharmacy staff rang around the other pharmacies, found one that had it and one of them ran down the street to borrow it.(1/4)

Our extremely rural school is part of the pilot for hot school lunches - brilliant in theory but they are provided in plastic containers that go straight in the recycling bin. That’s 90 plastic containers every day from our small school - this must be part of the evaluation programme.
