USPS quietly changed its postmark rules — mail is no longer dated when you drop it off. The “official” date is when it hits automated sorting — sometimes days later

Which could have major implications for mail in voting — it’s a clever way to disenfranchise voters that’s going largely overlooked

I need some positivity. Quote or reply with your favorite bike memory of 2025. It can be a great ride, an advocacy accomplishment, whatever. Let's celebrate bikes.

My personal favorite was finally doing a bikepacking ride up to Portland, Maine! It has me excited for bigger adventures in 2026.

Flu is widespread in Northeast… ERs full of it. Get your vaccine and high-risk patients should consider wearing a mask in crowded places if you want to avoid illness.
Ps vax is not perfect but better than nothing.

this is incredible stuff. most state DOTs would spend tens of billions on highway expansions to try and see numbers like this (that wouldn’t even pan out anyway thanks to induced demand lol)

The point I wish got emphasized more is that the big winners from congestion pricing are *people who urgently need to drive*. Because they are ones that travel times really matter for. I always thought that instead of congestion pricing it should be called "free streets" - free from other cars.

I highly recommend watching this segment, not just because the CBS News execs and the White House didn’t want you to, but because these men were tortured and they deserved to have their voices heard.

Oh one more thing about fossil fuel; the whole idea that natural gas is so much greener/cleaner than coal is sort of true when you burn it, but so much methane is emitted when it's extracted, & methane is a potent greenhouse gas, that, well, it's not. And we've know that for a while.
Reality Check: Natural Gas’s True Climate Risk - RMI
Methane leakage as low as 0.2 percent puts gas’s climate impact on par with coal.

Grok says "Elon Musk's restored 2018 Tesla pay package grants him options for ~304 million shares. This represents about 9% of Tesla's ~3.3 billion outstanding shares (as of Dec 2025). When exercised, it would dilute existing shareholders' ownership by roughly 8-9%"

Huge good news: as documented by Ben Storrow of @eenews.bsky.social, the NECEC transmission line was activated around 1 PM today & is feeding power from Quebec to the #NewEngland grid!

This means lower emissions and lower prices, and we can already see the latter./1

When climate change takes a flavor from the world.

My in-law family has told me about the tiny, intense pink shrimp that were harvested in stormy seas in Maine winters.

Now warming oceans have reduced the shrimp population to almost nothing, and the fishery has been officially closed.
New England’s shrimp fishery to shut down for the long haul after years of decline
Fishing regulators are extending a shutdown for New England’s historic shrimp fishing business, effectively shuttering an industry that fell victim to warming oceans.

this is what I want for automatic weapons. someday I want people to look back and just shake their heads in disbelief at the literal cities of adults and children that we allowed to be brutally murdered.
I lived thru the end of public smoking. Early in my career I presented to city councils who were smoking, in front of audiences who were smoking.

Smoking in restaurants, airplanes, hospitals…

All of that seems insane now, but it was very controversial when we DID change it.

We CAN change things.
It’s crazy that people used to be able to just smoke cigarettes wherever they wanted
