Eustaquio is a @newsguild.org member and we want him released and back home with his family!
A beloved workers' rights organizer in Minnesota, known for *successfully* fighting against wage theft and labor trafficking, has been detained by federal immigration agents and is now locked up in New Mexico. His family is calling for his urgent release. inthesetimes.com/article/work...

The Washington Post cannot move forward under the leadership that caused this crisis. Will Lewis’s decisions drove the Post to this breaking point.

Will Lewis’s exit is long overdue. His legacy will be the attempted destruction of a great American journalism institution. But it's not too late to save The Post. Jeff Bezos must immediately rescind these layoffs or sell the paper to someone willing to invest in its future.

Our @newsguild.org siblings have seen egregious union busting since the beginning of the year. @flyingwithsara.bsky.social rallied at the #SaveThePost rally this week! In a new court document, USAGM's acting director of human resources explains the many different titles that Kari Lake has held over the past year. The declaration says that Lake was only Acting CEO from July 31 to Nov. 19 and is now Deputy CEO again. (There's no CEO afaik.)

Yesterday’s rally at The Post drew a huge crowd to fight for journalism and to #SaveThePost.

These layoffs are shameful, and we are all worse off because of them. Still, we will continue to fight for journalism and for a free press.

The NUJ stands in solidarity with all workers impacted by the appalling, cataclysmic cuts at the Washington Post.

We agree wholeheartedly with @newsguild.org that a newsroom cannot be hollowed out without compromising its credibility, its reach and its future.
Jeff Bezos gave $75 million to support Melania Trump's vanity film, but he doesn't have the money for the hundreds of journalists he laid off at The Post today.

Democracy dies with Bezos – unless we fight back. Here's how you can help:

Bezos’ cull at the Washington Post seems almost performative. He could run it at a loss indefinitely, he could run it as a nonprofit philanthropic effort, he could sell it. But no.

There are so many talented people at the Washington Post who are being laid off because of incompetent management. The Post deserves a steward who invests in quality journalism that serves the public.
The Washington-Baltimore News Guild strongly condemns the layoffs announced today at The Washington Post. These cuts represent yet another blow to a newsroom that has already been pushed to its limits and a disservice to the readers who rely on The Post for rigorous, independent journalism.
