The only reason I haven't deleted twitter yet is becaus it's the only public place I made this prediction
Nothing quite more depressing than seeing north Wales comms/stakeholder jobs advertised at £30k requiring two languages, and similar monolingual jobs in the south of England for £50k.

If we can't decarbonise trains, what *can* we decarbonise?
Govt scraps all electrification investment. Midland Main Line to stay forever diesel Leicester Nottingham Derby Sheffield. Hugely embarrassing and inexplicable

UK transport secretary says full electrification of railways ‘not affordable right now’
Heidi Alexander says focus will be on other projects such as HS2

"the core reason for Premier Tech to sponsor the team has been overshadowed to a point where it has become untenable for us to continue as a sponsor."
PremierTech stops as a team sponsor "taking effect immediately"

Nothing worse NOTHING than when you've been listening to Wales' best band (Manic Street Preachers) and then when the album finishes the algorithm starts playing the worst Welsh band (The Stereophonics).

I think it's fair to say the report is pretty damning for both the school and councils education department
'Ni wnaeth yr un oedolyn proffesiynol a oedd yn gweithio gyda phlant ystyried bod disgyblion yn cael eu cam-drin yn rhywiol gan Bennaeth eu hysgol.'

Get down your local Chinese, if you are fortunate to live in an area with enough Chinese expats/students, and ask what they've got on their non-English menu because it can be DELOCIOUS

Please nobody tell Elon Musk about Wales
Elon Musk, "These lovely small towns in England, Scotland and Ireland, they've been living their lives quietly. They're like hobbits"

"And so one day, 1,000 people show up in your village of 500 and start raping the kids"

"This has now happened, God knows how many times in Britain"

@friebos.bsky.social RE: Ozempic. There was someone on the trainerroad forum who recounted taking Ozempic and quit after about a week as basically any aerobic exercise beyond strolling along felt truly awful.

I say this every time anyone asks why people near wind farms don't get discount electricity: every time it's been tried, people just use more. And the more you use, the more money you save, so bigger users (i.e. those with bigger houses, i.e. wealthier people) benefit more.

Just had someone send me a pitch for new business on LonkedIn, and I think we've gone so far down into the AI turd mine that seeing spelling mistakes is actually good.

Every time I see a social media meme about being an introvert, which is at least once a week, I think about how the modern conception of introversion was popularized by a book by a woman who worked on Wall Street who felt that she was so different and special compared to her coked up male colleagues

Turns out Star Trek was only out by a year on this one, with The Bell Riots eh?
Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.

Went to the Chinese restaurant and picked stuff off the Chinese menu again. Always a 10/10 experience especially if you eat more animal than just the meat.

Every time I work on bilingual copy and collateral for work, I am EXTREMELY glad I've afforded myself three years of welsh classes. Those last-minute copy changes have gone from being costly or impossible, to merely incredibly annoying!

Upskill your staff, it's worth it!

Writer's block is, like quicksand, broadly a plot device.

I don't know a single person who writes for a living that has ever had writer's block, because they can't afford it. You sigh, you make a coffee or cup of tea, then you get started again and it's fine.
