All of republican governance in our lifetime has now devolved to angry white men incoherently screeching—in the halls of power and online alike—that nothing is working and they demand democrats put it back together in the exact way that republicans want or else they’ll start killing more people

Dear Sunderland,

the documentary-adjacent film Screwball, with its portrayal of Manfred and his thugs by child actors dressed in suits, gives the appropriate frame for understanding these dumb heavy-handed threats

so there was a partner dealership in SoCal with different lyrics to the same tune and I remember getting into a drunken dorm argument that almost came to blows about which version was better

in addition to the horrific details here, there is something so disgusting and repellent about the chirpy, slangy, faux-familiar cadence of the chatgpt voice. real uncanny valley simulation of human interaction and companionship. fails the voight-kampff 10/10 times

this antihumanism in eco-theory, aesthetics, and politics is insane to me (and the impetus for the book I am currently writing)
It's bad manners to force the issue but in a lot of environmental advocacy (not necessarily climate), there is remarkable ambivalence about whether or not there should be people at all.

Nabisco Rice Cream Flakes (1967-1968): Crispy rice cereal flakes coated in real freeze-dried vanilla ice cream, which was then meant to taste like eating vanilla ice cream in a sugar cone. Test marketed across New York, it was discontinued when the ice cream supplier in Oregon went out of business

tired of all the stories equating moscow with doug wilson's weirdo christofascist church. their mayoral candidate is getting trounced and their city council candidates once again will not come close to getting elected. these freaks will never be the dominant presence here

I knew that Mamdani had it; he had the people and did the work, and has been the clearest and most lucid in rejecting the untenable current state of things. But the vile, bigoted shit against him was so constant, and I am conditioned to that working better than I want. This feels like an exorcism.
