Upper class America does, in fact, know class solidarity. And that solidarity says: no accountability for me but accountability for thee.

The peons get debt they can’t service, jobs that can’t make ends meet, but when it comes time for basic accountability re: billionaire pedophilia? Nah, I’m good.

find someone who loves you the way yours truly loves to modify a noun with two conjunctionally-separated adjectives

this is a brave and true post

the thing that we are seeing in the cold light of day, and apparently doing nothing about, is the culmination of the plot of a conspiracy film where *this* is the utterly unthinkable and evil shit that is being covered up

me, to an editor worried that I would be offended by the tone of a reviewer's comments:

"I am not offended. No one can hate my writing more than I do."

sure I would not love it if my work emails were paraded on main but I, a humble prof at a mid-tier state university, am confident that I have never proffered an interpretation so laughably wrong
Interesting email here from Elisa New, Harvard professor and wife to Larry Summers, to Epstein, reflecting on Lolita.

what the FUCK is going on with his comma spacing? a minor crime given his rap sheet but a crime nonetheless
All his emails read like general anesthesia is starting to kick in

new email signoff just dropped

DO NOT REPEAT THIS INSIGHT
Larry Summers had an "insight" in an email to Epstein.

the documentary-adjacent film Screwball, with its portrayal of Manfred and his thugs by child actors dressed in suits, gives the appropriate frame for understanding these dumb heavy-handed threats

in addition to the horrific details here, there is something so disgusting and repellent about the chirpy, slangy, faux-familiar cadence of the chatgpt voice. real uncanny valley simulation of human interaction and companionship. fails the voight-kampff 10/10 times

this antihumanism in eco-theory, aesthetics, and politics is insane to me (and the impetus for the book I am currently writing)
It's bad manners to force the issue but in a lot of environmental advocacy (not necessarily climate), there is remarkable ambivalence about whether or not there should be people at all.
