I don't even care about basketball, and yet I apparently know more about the Dallas Mavericks than Nico Harrison does.

Susie Dent coming in with the linguistics shade once again.
Word of the day is ‘quiddler’ (18th century): one who focuses on unimportant issues while avoiding the important ones, or who fiddles/plays golf while Rome burns.

At this point, I just assume all right-wing politicians are criminally corrupt because it saves time.

Word of day is ‘unasinous’ (17th century): united in stupidity.

A riff on ‘unanimous’: which comes from the Latin for ‘one mind’. ‘Unasinous’ means ‘one ass’.

We used to hang Nazis, not allow them to speak at inaugurations. I for one believe the only good Nazi is a dead Nazi.

Jeez, I wasn't expecting @susiedent.com to come at me so hard this morning.
Word of the Day is ‘uhtcearu’ [ucht-kay-aru, with the 'ch' as in the Scottish ‘loch']:

Old English for ‘the sorrow before dawn', when you lie awake in the darkness and worries crowd your mind.

That's how much Big Oil has spent over the last 30 years paying off Congress to look the other way on climate action while the planet burns.

Well, the planet is burning.
Don't let them look away.

I went to the other place by mistake just now & I can't believe I put up w/ it for so long. It felt like ppl running around w/ machetes, swinging wildly, screaming, setting fires, while the TV in the background plays stories like "Democracy was always stupid and we are idiots. Also fruit is evil."

It is true, and not just for comedians: the introduction of the ‘like’ button marked the end of Twitter’s golden age. I discovered so many great accounts when they were RTed in my direction. Tomorrow I’m just going to do that for a bunch of funny/interesting people.
Please repost (retweet) stuff on here. Once that stopped on Twitter, we comedians didn’t feel the platform was working for us. I know it’s a wank thing to ask to publicise us, but we need it and we publicise loads of other things. Isn’t reposting a comedian better than reposting outrage? I hope so.

New foster kittens are out of the shelter and in our kennel for decompression time! Not that these ones seem to need it - they have already been playing king of the castle on the top shelf all evening.

In other news, the crochet kitten climber was a great success.
