Something poetic about how spellcheck has no idea what to do whenever I misspell 'bureaucracy.'

Sometimes I think about Wikipedia, and what they're trying to do, and what they could be, and compare their budget with the funding for LLM slop machines, and it drives me a little insane. We tried to build a library of Alexandria that would not burn, then tried a library of babel for profit.

This was foreseeable, and in fact, foreseen.

Why would I eat a delicious meal, when I could simply pay a robot to eat it instead and tell me superlatives about it?

All upside!
These people are the enemy.

I'd argue this is less about the terminal and more about the need to manually duct tape parts of the OS when things break/don't work how you want. That hardly ever happens these days (though it *does* still sometimes happen).
Terminal is objectively superior as an expert UI though.
Here's a cool thing for tech-savvy linux nerds:

How often do you *have* to actually use your terminal for something linux related. How often does your OS actually make you have to do something in the terminal.

Not whether you use the terminal, but whether it is voluntary or involuntary.

A brief write up on the absolutely bonkers game that was the collaborative project completed by my year 11 Computer Science students in 2023:

@becauselangpod.bsky.social does this imply the existence of a third shape, yet to be discovered by linguists?

Applies to code too 🙃
Two stages of writing:

1) This shouldn't take too long
2) Oh no

Found a weird "bug" with the jukebox project. Surprise! It's a power supply issue. jonathan.ihle.in/2024/11/rasp...

Sitting on a vanity domain only to find Bluesky allows you to set a domain as your handle?
