I'll share some more specific thoughts on it later, but please do have a look if you can.
It was an extremely DIY endeavour - lots of late nights spent wrangling charts, editing each other's prose, even learning how to build a website from scratch - so I hope it sparks plenty of debate!

The WHINING! The EXQUISITE VICTIMHOOD!

He has the key to nuclear destruction, the most powerful chair in the world, and SOMEHOW STILL feels picked on.

Honey, if being PoTUS doesn’t make the bad Obama man go’way, nothing but nothing will. Because you’re the bad man. That’s why he’s always with you.

"We are very sorry about your cancer diagnosis, but you should have thought of that 20 years ago, when you decided to marry a Danish man."
This really is not getting the attention it should. The Tories' latest proposal is to exclude *any household that includes any foreign national from any benefit*.

And when asked about it, they keep citing small boat crossings - a minute fraction of migration - to justify it. ~AA

This is really thoughtful stuff, as per, from @jameskanag.bsky.social. I suspect that elites will be better at protecting their jobs, and that ultimately the number of hand/heart jobs has a (Baumol cost-related) upper limit. But so much to think through here.
The "collar flip"....what if class politics shifted in the UK?
Why the rise of AI, might change our politics in the UK (and US!)

Starmer is making a huge mistake - ignoring voters who want real action on the climate, a fair tax system, investment in our economy, support for disabled people, action to lift children out of poverty, global leadership to end the bloodshed in Gaza...

Labour is ignoring the threat from its left
As disaffection with mainstream parties grows, Labour is copying Reform’s agenda. But trying to outflank the hard-right populists is not only pointles...

I’ve heard it said there are those who will withhold food from 100 people out of fear 1 might not really deserve it VS those who will feed 100 hungry people out of concern that 1 might really need it

Listening to British politics today I feel this may be the battle of ideas at play

In terms of political strategy, Labour have absolutely failed to tie Reform to Brexit... or indeed to Donald Trump.

Transphobia is no more "acceptable" than any other form of bigotry, and I continue to be absolutely astounded, shocked, and revolted that otherwise "liberal" people think otherwise.

What do they want transgender people to do? Hide away?
Pretend they don't exist?

I think that what @chrischirp.bsky.social says about the lessons we should learn from lockdown is considerably more relevant and useful than what some of those quoted in the Observer piece have to say.

We are learning the wrong lessons from lockdown
And unless we learn the right ones, we risk making the same mistakes in a new pandemic
