A framing that is underutilized: The BosWash corridor has an annual GDP of up to $5 Trillion USD, which is makes it the most economically productive region in the world and about 20% of US GDP.

If HSR investment makes anywhere in the world it would be here, but alas.
FWIW East Coast cities are so close together that most people are never going to plan their @Amtrak NEC trips out weeks in advance.

They’ll do it a day or so out and get blown away by the prices.

There’s this weird thing where we can clearly see the powerful tool for pro-accountability actions and pro-social engagement (with other ac human persons) that a smart phone can be and also these damned things are sucking the life out of us and we gotta quit it.

If you need an expensive hobby that gives you the juice

...gentlemen, let me introduce you to the world of road cycling.

You want to be 0.00025% lighter and therefore faster? Brother, that will be five thousand dollars for bearings.

You can even go to the track but you ride instead of bet.

I got a long coat with a double zipper from Duluth Trading and it works great on the bike. Plus having big coat energy makes me feel like I'm in a 90s thriller.

Signal failure yesterday. CSX can’t park their freight trains today. Elevators that never work.

The worcester line is really going through it this week.

What if the thing that unifies the country is when American Football plays the halftime show for the American football superbowl?

MASSIVE delays on the Worcester line today. Some cancellations, lots of 30min+ delays. plan accordingly folks

It amazes me how many solved problems are now made to be intractable because someone can sell you something.

We solved the problems collectively. Don't want packages stolen from your porch? For many its possible to pick them up from the post office. No surveillance state needed.

Just use "I'm trying to understand Bad Bunny songs" as motivation to learn a second language. I guarantee you there's a community college nearby with a human spanish prof who just wants to teach you how to conjugate tener properly.

Which is to say, what for some seems like empty semantics might actually function as a vetting process about trusting people who might not have your best interests in mind and or might be the worst people in the world

While I think that the notion of purity tests is in need of some serious nuance, I think one genuine good of a purity test is as a bulwark against getting involved with shady characters waving lots of money your way that end up compromising what you're trying to do.

make the cops shovel.
Yesterday we had buses arriving after 11:00AM. Mainly our small buses for our most vulnerable students. Meaning they were on those buses for HOURS. Despicable.
And Worcester continues to cut the DPW budget and over inflate the WPD’s. It’s gross. Make the cops shovel.

There's some good research backing this up regarding teaching and use of multi-media sources (i.e. music with lyrics vs. instrumentals)--Mayer's work specifically is the standard in instructional design/study fields.

Truly, ebiking in winter extends your commuting "season."

Only thing I'd add is that you make sure you plan for what cold does to batteries. There is a genuine difference in my bike's range when it dips below 25F.
People who don't ride #EBikes tend to have a lot of misconceptions about them, often assuming they're just about being lazy, wanting to go fast, or (more reasonably) not wanting to get to work stinky and sweaty in the summer.

But for me, it's *wintertime* when my #Ebike shines.
