Star Trek fans: Just a note that Star Trek: Prodigy is leaving Netflix at the end of the year. It's a fun, all-ages canon series (not strictly a kids show) and is also a direct sequel to Voyager, particular in S2. Also, Wesley Crusher! #SaveProdigy #StarTrek

Death by Lightning on Netflix was really darn good. Funny, politically thrilling, and historically informative. Matthew Macfadyen and Nick Offerman probably deserve Emmys. #DeathByLightning

This is fucking trash.
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

Has NORAD Santa always had Santa visit the ISS? If not, this is a nice add.

Sounds good to me. Homes should be for living and making memories, not investment.
Trump: If we build more housing, the price of homes will go down, and homeowners will lose their wealth.

As a gov't employee, I wonder how the Pottersville Library managed to have enough funds to stay open until midnight. #ItsAWonderfulLife

Guessing there are flow control issues at SFO because of the weather, so these folks flying in from Humboldt County are taking the scenic route.

A couple of my friends loved Buck Rogers back in the day. I never got into it, but it filled a needed sci-fi TV gap. RIP.

A great tribute to Rob Reiner by Alan Sepinwall, highlighting his first seven directed films (1. Spinal Tap. 2. The Sure Thing. 3. Stand By Me. 4. The Princess Bride. 5. When Harry Met Sally. 6. Misery 7. A Few Good Men). To me, six of them are either classic or near-classic.
Wrote about how the late, great Rob Reiner had the most impossible 7-movie beginning to any director's career, and yet that's not even what he was most famous for:

This book was perhaps a little advanced for a 12-year-old, but it helped influence my interest in space travel that continues today. RIP John Noble Wilford.

Some interesting geekdom crossover as Marvel Comics reprinted UK #DoctorWho comics in 1980. Here the legendary Frank Miller, about to make his name on Daredevil, draws the Fourth Doctor on a Marvel Premiere cover. (Interiors by Dave Gibbons of Watchmen fame.)

Some of these pharmaceutical ads on TV are downright depressing: "Patients who took WONDERDRUG for DISEASE lived twice as long as those in the control group."
Fine print: "Median survival time for WONDERDRUG patients was 6 months, as compared to 3 months in placebo group."
