The thing about Marjorie Taylor Greene doing the “I didn’t think the face-eating leopards would eat ME face” bit is that she very clearly thought she was one of the leopards to begin with.
Marjorie Taylor Greene claims she shared with Trump death threat she received that he incited, and his response was "extremely unkind"

Imagine the hell we could have prevented if our national government had done the same.

True fact — there is a Casablanca TV series which ran for all of five episodes back in 1983.
Netflix, which rarely carries a single movie from before 1980, wants you to know how thrilled they are to acquire that classic piece of franchise IP, Casablanca

It is certainly one of the most loyal to the source text.

Also, the soundtrack features wall Christmas bangers. No duds, no skips, no taking a break by singing old carols. Paul Williams went into the paint and gave us a holiday masterpiece.

I loved ROBOCOP long before it was reclaimed as a masterpiece of American cultural and political satire.

I might have even helped to fund this as a misguided young adult when they first kickstarted it.

But erecting a statue of a fictional cyborg cop in Detroit is *PEAK* white people bullshit.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

The argument as to whether the people we murdered on those boats were allegedly drug runners or fisherman sidesteps the most important point of this entire issue.

@roxanegay.bsky.social breaks it down:
I can't stop thinking about the purported drug smugglers being murdered by the US military. The punishment for drug offenses isn't the death penalty. This is just bloodlust and men in suits playing with lives they don't care about. It's truly grotesque and gravely compromises this country.

Who controls what IP isn't what's at play with this new merger: it's about who gets your attention & dollars. It means fewer shows & fewer movies as not to step on each other's dicks.

1/3 of Hollywood is already out of work from past consolidation. How many more voices will they run out of town?

Having wisdom means knowing it's okay to walk away from a local subreddit argument with someone who thinks the Cracker Barrel in your town is somehow better than any other Cracker Barrel.

My holiday hot take:

#Whammageddon unfairly singles out a solid Christmas, and suspect some of the ‘hate’ people have for it is connected in part to the fact that its writer/performer was openly gay.

An acceptable alternative could be #WonderfulChristmasTimeaggedon

Gonna make a movie about a fire department chief who decides to fight fires with fires.

It’s gonna be called OOPS, ALL FIRES!
Love it when politics people say "we have to fight fire with fire"

Like, the colloquial phrase is "you CAN'T fight fire with fire," which makes a lot more sense, but you do you, honey

A live Mr Show reunion special, except it’s a televised FBI sting to bring Jay Johnston to justice.

Dickensian is a word we will be using to describe a lot of situations, I fear.
Can’t believe the whole country has to suffer through the return of Dickensian childhood diseases because the worst, most ignorant attention-demanders decided other people’s expertise makes them feel bad

Saw this headline earlier this morning and was reminded of these photos of a baby deer just chumming it up with a bunch of cheetah as if they were all friends -- only to be surprised when it started to be devoured.
You don't say.

It's 'smart' to say things like: WICKED FOR GOOD was awful. A truly bad film that pads down the breezy, montage heavy second half of the stage musical into movie that feels as rusty and leaden as the Tin Man himself.

But it's also wise to admit: I've enjoyed Marvel films that were far worse.

“there are Epsteins everywhere for those with eyes to see.”

literally ask any woman you know. most of us yelled about it in 2017, when it seemed possible for a brief moment that it actually mattered.
Wrote about Epstein, the misogynistic culture that protected him, and the banality of evil when it comes to harming women and children. He was not a unique man.
