Peter Coviello’s passionate takedown of New York Times is one for the ages. Personal, honest, and brilliantly written.

If you haven’t already read it, make time in your day for a beautiful long read.

Polanski’s sincerity, empathy and intelligence radiates so strongly throughout this interview. I have never seen a politician, so comfortable in their own skin, or with their own beliefs. He leaves his condescending interviewer, Trevor Phillips, utterly flat-footed.

They’re eating the pets, they’re raping the Hobbits!
Elon Musk, "These lovely small towns in England, Scotland and Ireland, they've been living their lives quietly. They're like hobbits"

"And so one day, 1,000 people show up in your village of 500 and start raping the kids"

"This has now happened, God knows how many times in Britain"

The Ontario government should double down and release the unedited video so that everyone can see it. Use the Streisand Effect to their advantage:

This really is the dividing line between Democrats and Republicans in the US, and between Liberals and Conservatives in Canada.

It’s the difference between governance and partisanship.
AOC: I don't care if someone likes me or not. That will never change the fact that I'm going to fight for them to have health care. I want MAGA to have health care. I want MAGA to be paid a living wage.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Blue Rodeo’s album “Five Days in July” changed my life. Especially its signature song, “Five Days in May”.

Here’s hoping it will change yours too!

This is a stunningly good read. I was a lifelong Atlantic reader until I stopped cold turkey this year. No clicks since.

And I’ve had a lifelong version to Chait, who has been harder to avoid as he pops around from platform to platform.

Rashid, on the other hand, has a sharp eye and a sharp pen.

One of the simplest and most heartfelt explanations of institutional racism that I’ve ever heard.
"Here I am, this middle-aged black man, I'm in my best suit. I actually argued the case at the Supreme Court that we were trying to implement. I've got all these degrees and awards. And I'm still required to laugh at my own humiliation."

They can sell or short stock, they can cancel streaming packages on Disney+, Hulu, ESPN (etc.), they can decide to not go to Disneyland/Disney World, they can sell their Disney timeshares (DVC), they can stop buying Disney DVDs, games, or music, or not buy Disney merchandise, etc. LOTS to be done. 👍

One thing that helps me a lot is thinking of my mind as a camera with a lens that can zoom WAY in or WAY out. Whenever you find yourself paralyzed by useless stress, zooming out toward the cosmic or in toward the infinitely moment-mindful is both healthy and wise.

It's ALL reality.

You need to live broadcast and post to warn, guide and advise your citizens - moment by moment. They need to know what you are doing to protect them and what, exactly, they should do too.

Otherwise they’ll fight back anyway they can, and Trump will have the war he wants.
The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.

This is not a joke. This is not normal.

Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.

Grok went off-the-rails antisemitic last week. This week, it’s another dangerously unreliable toy for the Department of Defense. Insane levels of incompetence, sabotage, or more of this administration’s increasingly frenzied dance on kompromat strings?

I would love to hear from ‘Wall Steeters’ about what things they will have to forgo in this new era of class warfare.

What are the exact things that you won’t be able to buy? Make me a list and read it out loud.
The billionaire class was freaking out this morning on CNBC:

" They're taking Wall Streeters and making them walk out onto the ice in the east river, And, and then they fall through."

"I mean there is a class warfare that's going on."

I was in Chile in 1986, and this is probably the best analogy for the current state of affairs.

The things that were routine there - tear gas, riot police, rounding up citizens for nothing more than gathering… well, it simply never would have occurred to me that this was the future of the USA.
A leading expert on strongman rule asks whether the US is veering towards Pinochet's Chile, where the military inflicted violence on the population at the behest of an authoritarian leader. A moral test looms for those who take orders from Trump and Hegseth.
