Bluesky needs to increase its character limit.

I hate that threads has recaptured my attention and that Bluesky just isn’t delivering the timely and captivating political/news/current event content that I want. I made an effort to be over here, but as soon as I let the content draw me regardless of deliberate choice, I ended up back on threads.

This is the most straightforward thing they've said so far. They're using the military to "liberate" Los Angeles from its mayor and governor.
Kristi Noem: "We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."

Sen. Alex Padilla is then forcibly removed!

Governor JB Pritzker said to Rep. Mary Miller: "I am not going to be lectured to by somebody who extols the virtue of Hitler."

Finally, someone says it to their faces.

I think immigration is good and we should have more of it.

There should be some rules to regulate it but right now the process is too arduous and many good people don't have any viable path to citizenship. They should.

Amnesty for all immigrants NOW! Trump’s chaos will destroy us. Everyone should be demanding AMNESTY NOW

“We call it a starship!”
“So it goes to the stars?”
“Well, not really.”
“So why not call it a spaceship?”
“Well, it doesn’t do that either.”

If kidnapped, what would you post that would alarm your followers without the kidnappers knowing you're asking for help?

“We need the manly manufacturing of rock hard American products” says the podcasting manosphere who spend their days buying and selling imaginary digital Monopoly meme money.

The idea that American-made products are always better is partly an illusion created by free trade policies. Right now, American manufacturing mostly survives by focusing on premium, ‘craftsman’ or ‘artisan’ markets. 1/3

One of the most powerful catalysts for developing critical minds, minds ready for cultural studies and other systemic analyses of power and oppression, is early exposure to jingoistic history, compulsory patriotism, & conservative religious literalism.

On the one hand, it’s so moronic to think today’s partial tariff pause and inadequate market bounce was a win. On the other hand, if y’all want to celebrate and declare victory like…go for it. Congrats. If that’s what’s needed to stop needless self-harm… amazing work! You the real champs!

Not that theyll answer it but I’d ask: “Does the president’s business genius and
Art of the Deal include misleading business leaders and the American public about his plans? Should the American people expect to be lied to as part of the President’s brilliant negotiating strategy?”

Economics is called the dismal science, but one of its most beautiful insights is that production (dare I say, abundance) is possible. That from a functioning system, something new can emerge, something no one could have created alone. Cooperation, even collaboration, holds a kind of creative magic.

Last time stocks dropped this much in one day was June of 2020 during Trump’s first term. The difference this time is he is the virus that caused it.
