"Keegan Matheson has a beard. Let’s start there. Matheson is MLB.com’s Blue Jays beat writer and he has a beard. It’s a big, glorious, pointy beard, and it’s attached to his face and everything."

the threat of 30-50 feral goldfish finally justify having deadly weapons
“There are feral goldfish in at least one Jackson waterway” is both a lede I wish I’d written and the opening line from my new album

The Jays' outlook looks, uh, *different* 2 months later.
The Blue Jays need to blow it up inasmuch as they can “blow it up.”

trying to switch off the AI bloatware that has been pinned to the top of every single menu in every single app

Honestly I still can't even get over this. AI slop entirely made up baseball rules, including "how many times the ball bounces" insanity, ignoring the correct answers on the same page.
The #tinycanadian asked me whether a catch off a wall would count in #baseball. (After Springer hit a double off the Green Monster for the Jays.)

I said I didn’t think so, but let’s look it up.

The top result on Google was from Quora, which had the right answer […]

LLMs fabricate completely, utterly wrong and made up baseball rules: sure, why not use it for important things too???

LLMs are bad at *everything.*

The New York Times is giving a murder their “both-sides” treatment. What the hell is the matter with you?!? Someone kills a person with their car, and your reaction is to be like, “Some people think murder is bad, but others don’t like bike lanes, so 🤷‍♂️.”

There are a lot of terrible things in the world. I would like them to be less terrible and I contribute where I can if it seems like there's genuinely something I can do. But spending your whole life staring dejectedly at a screen full of tragedy and yelling at people about it isn't activism.

Social media has weirdly conditioned a huge number of people to feel like they're Doing Something by posting, and Doing Nothing if they don't post about a particular thing, and in general neither of those things are true.
