Democracy and tolerance are very important to me.

NO DM PLEASE. I won’t react.

Some say that Ukraine should be grateful for everything.
The truth is exactly the opposite. The rest of us should be grateful to Ukraine.

IMO, an excellent analysis of Trump and his relationship to US evangelicals by @atrupar.com at www.publicnotice.co/p/trump-evan...

"Religious conservatives had long sought someone who’d help them justify their own selfishness and cruelty. This makes Trump their ideal leader."
Trump is clowning his evangelical base
He's not even bothering to pretend anymore.

That's very disturbing. Still, there are many more Americans opposed to Trump than supporting him and the rioters won't risk jail time when he's no longer there to pardon them
The GOP's Big Beautiful Bill gave Trump tens of billions of dollars to create a domestic militia and prison system that he was all but certain to employ to assault our democracy, as I said last July.
Now that Republicans are poised to suffer a catastrophic electoral loss, that assault beginning.....

I can assure you that maybe in Munich they were susceptible to the nice words, but that's because Europeans are very polite and diplomatic.
The "man in the street" in Europe loathes Trump's America
Rubio just made a speech to the European defense community in Munich that did not mention Ukraine. Or democracy. Or US business deals with Russia. Or the administration's plans to support the European far right. But there were lots of nice words about our common civilization.

Elke keer als ik lees over Navalny word ik verdrietig over hoe ze hem hebben mishandeld, vergiftigd, en uiteindelijk vermoord.
Ik hoop dat hij een inspiratiebron zal blijven voor velen

Lost amid the noise is the fact that the president just tried to throw six members of Congress in prison because he didn't like what they said. Per @sbg1.bsky.social you have to go back to 1798 to find a congressman prosecuted for exercising his right to free speech www.newyorker.com/news/letter-...
Donald Trump’s Disingenuous Promise to Champion Free Speech
It is Donald Trump’s systematic campaign to stamp out dissent and punish those who disagree with him that will be remembered as among the most singularly un-American aspects of his disruptive tenure.
