So happy that "On Christian Nationalism: Critical and Theological Perspectives" is now out in print! With 19 contributors, the book addresses definitions of CN; historical development; intersections with racism, sexism, antisemitism, and Islamophobia; and practical ways to address the problem.

When I saw pictures of Liam Ramos with his Spidey backpack and bunny hat, I felt an overwhelming responsibility as someone who works in superhero comics. Please do check out the art in #Comics4Liam and visit comics4liam.com to support Liam and groups helping other immigrants like him. ❤️💪🐇

I cried to see Liam in his little blue hat back home. But please know that there are other young children in immigration concentration camps. He caught our hearts, but he was not the only one. In fact, a ten year old girl from my neighborhood is in Dilley now

ICE just showed up at our house for the second day in a row. Four cars yesterday, today five. They rolled up slow, then got out to taunt us, and take pictures of the house. They want fear to overwhelm us, to project a fantasy of power meant to intimidate, isolate, produce obedience—not happening.

My partner asked about the Q&A and his answer to this question was:

“There are about 500 police in Minneapolis and at least 3000 ICE agents in the state. So assume you would see ICE out at least six times as often as you see a police car. That’s what it feels like here.”

I know you know this, but for folks who aren’t here:

ICE uses racial profiling and AI tools that “estimate” your chance of citizenship to decide who to detain. They often refuse to accept documentation of someone’s right to be in the U.S.—and may destroy it instead.

I get the impression that a lot of people want to believe that keeping your head down will protect you if you aren’t one of ICE’s targets, but the list of targets is constantly expanding and they’re so reckless in their violence that anyone can get caught in the crosshairs.

One armed goon loses his shit at an observer who's backing up, and then several more armed goons tackle the observer to the ground, and then even more armed goons form a protective shield around the armed goons handcuffing the observer for hurting an armed goon's feelings.

This can't be "reformed"

Ever notice how the inner voice that says, "We are powerless. This will never work." gets louder when you feel alone?

That's because loneliness and isolation amplify despair. Community, partnership, and action are the antidote.

Hope is a group project.

I'd like to get away for a year or so and see something new...either abroad or inside U.S. Anyone have advice on paid research fellowships I could apply to that relate to critical theory, social thought, or research on countering fascism?

this reminds me of the way i’ve seen susan bro speak about her daughter, heather heyer. when a fascist murders your child, you aren’t allowed to just grieve. you have to defend their memory, even their very grave.
Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti.

"Please get the truth out about our son."
