Ever wonder how the genome of human brains compares with macaque, marmoset, mouse, rat, cat, rabbit, horse, and cow? Wonder no longer! Check out a really cool pre-print from my very talented graduate student @ashlynganderson.bsky.social on multiomics across mammals: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Single Cell Multiomics Across Nine Mammals Reveals Cell Type Specific Regulatory Conservation in the Brain
Understanding the gene regulatory mechanisms underlying brain function is crucial for advancing knowledge of the genetic basis of neurologic diseases. Cis-regulatory elements (CREs) play a pivotal rol...

🧪 Senate appropriators say: NIH's budget gets a... boost!

Rather than 40% cut, NIH gets a $400M *increase* in the Senate committee bill for FY26 (about +1%).

"Congress has your back," said @murray.senate.gov.

ADVOCACY MATTERS! There's still a long road (esp in the House), so keep up pressure.

The NIH diversity supplement pages have all been pulled down. What is a diversity supplement and why should the public care? A diversity supplement is funding to help diversify the research workforce. You may be wondering, “so what?”. Let me explain. www.nigms.nih.gov/Pages/PageNo...
National Institute of General Medical Sciences
NIGMS supports basic research to understand biological processes and lay the foundation for advances in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

I couldn't spot a starter pack for rare disease / clinical genomics, so I started one: go.bsky.app/SUWZ9Hw

Very much a work in progress, and biased by who I have already found here, so please suggest people to add! Self-nominations encouraged.

I made a starter pack for neuroscience folks but I just saw that it’s capped at 150 people. Sorry if I missed anyone! Maybe #neuroscience folks should start making subfield starter packs? 🧪

Genetics Starter Pack 2
Some accounts I can’t believe I missed the first time, self-nominees, and recent arrivals. If I still missed you, I’m probably sorry. Maybe you can post starter pack 3.

Made it over from the other place. What a breathe of fresh air.

I’m a scientist studying Alzheimer’s and related dementias as well as general genomics.

Looking forward to engaging with everyone!
