A great post with some really wonderful words by fellow Television member Jimmy Rip about Smith.

Ugh, missed that the great Fred Smith passed yesterday. The bass on MARQUEE MOON and all Television albums was one of its most underrated elements. Thanks for the incredible music. RIP

I had an hour drive back into town to go to Quaker meeting this morning, so I put on Alice Coltrane's JOURNEY IN SATCHIDANANDA for the drive to put me in the right mindset. Worked perfectly.

One of the great things about college radio is stuff that isn't streaming. So listening to my show live is often not precisely replicated in the playlists after. I do my best, but all the more reason to tune in when you can.

You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.

This could be you.

Also neat at CES: HP’s battery-powered PC built into a keyboard. Sort of a screenless laptop.

I knew I was avoiding jinxing myself for a reason. Go Panthers!
This is the most Panthers way for them to make the playoffs for sure. If they lose and it comes down to next week, I don't trust them to pull it off.

A lot of people forget how in 2004 the Bush regime kidnapped the democratically elected President of Haiti, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, and dumped him in Africa.
Is there any modern precedent for abducting a head of state?

Plenty of examples of coups, assassinations and domestic trials, including show trials, but this is like a Crusader Kings plot.
