A few months ago Chris Philp called me “unhinged” in a Telegraph article about a video I made.

In it I warned about the brutality of ICE, & argued those who appease Trump would open the door to Fascism here too. I was called ‘hysterical’.

I have 0 regrets about that message.

Just recorded our episode on Porco Rosso with @wittiestmanalive.bsky.social, and this excellent article by @aeneas-nin.bsky.social is a great primer for our discussion.
Porco Rosso and the Aesthetics of Fascism
Porco Rosso creates a visual language for the anti-fascist politics at its center, undermining key components of the fascist aesthetic.

A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

Most of the London-crime chat is just code for racism. They don't really mean that an area is dangerous. They mean that it contains black people/Muslims and want to insinuate that this entails danger.

Yep, it's bollocks. The moments I've felt least safe are in medium-sized towns around chucking-out time. London always felt fairly safe to me in comparison and now more so than ever.
The idea that London has become less safe in recent years is quite strange - just look at how once "dangerous" areas have been transformed in recent years. Gentrification comes with its own issues but streets are packed with visitors and city far more welcoming than when I moved here a decade ago.

FIVE YEARS & he has not been held accountable for one of the most disgraceful events in this nation's history.
Trying to overturn a fair election in an attempted coup against his own government is the very definition of TREASON. We can never move forward until this is fully adjudicated. #ShameOnUS🇺🇸

In an even remotely healthy political system and culture - and everywhere else in the democratic world - January 6 would have been a dealbreaker: The end of Trump as a major political figure. He would have been convicted, shunned, banished - everyone associated with him ostracized from public life.
January 6 in History

Wrote this two years ago: “If the insurrectionist-in-chief returns to power without ever facing any real consequences and while explicitly declaring his intent to establish a vindictive autocracy, then January 6 will have been successful.”

And here we are.
January 6 in History
Was it a key moment in the republic’s eventual demise or a milestone on the road to democracy’s ultimate triumph? The meaning of January 6 is yet to be determined

We’re going to do this for years aren’t we? Make tentative suggestions about heading back into the EU because Brexit is an isolating, costly moronathon that the country regrets. But Tories and Reform will keep howling ‘Betrayal!’, making progress and prosperity impossible.

Welcome to 2026, where the bully of the globe can illegally enter a sovereign nation, kidnap its leader, and then say that it “runs” that nation. Then, the same bully send “warnings” to neighboring nations that “the same” could happen to them. Fascism really is making an unwelcome comeback.
