“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge”

I just posted this to IG and realised I never showed the finished vase here. Made and bisque fired a single leaf stamp, carved the vines. Couldn’t be happier with how the glaze has settled on this piece. Is up for sale on my website, I hope someone loves it. #pottery

What weird cover do you love unironically?

For me a big one is Steve and Eydie’s Black Hole Sun

Really itching to Make Something but I won’t be able to get to the studio until Friday evening, and I don’t have bisque at home that needs designs applied.

Maybe I’ll have to force myself to use my cold basement studio and its lame-ass low fire clay.

Or, more likely, run out of steam and do nada

“Why am I so extra sleepy today?”

Ohh right forgot take the happy little caffeine pill.

(I hate coffee and tea, don’t drink sugar soda, *can’t* drink diet soda, and on days I come to the office get up too early to cope without caffeine)

Gorgeous!
One of the fern pots sold, but there is one left.

This is another vase from my latest restock. Art Deco inspired, tape resist work. Little bit in love with the little point that dips below the line at the front.

Speaking or lyrics, shuffle on my drive this morning reminded me how back on the hellsite I once posted how much I liked the XTC lyric “She got to be obscene to be obheard” and some rando came to “correct” me that it was “to be a bird”.

Even though I’m a pessimist at heart, I’ve always loved this lyric:

“Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight. Gotta kick at the darkness ‘til it bleeds daylight.”

"Nevermind the administration disappearing people ...or murdering Caribbean fishermen on a whim or shutting down agencies illegally or declaring war on trans people or openly accepting bribes, Dems picked a fight on health care and couldn't even find the spine for that," the NOAA employee said.
I heard from a bunch of federal employees last night and this morning. They aren't happy.

"I would rather be an actual pawn. At least pawn sacrifices are calculated and achieve something. All this for a fucking meaningless vote."

Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

Yay I trimmed all 4 things today and then I did some fun slip and carve action on the cool vase. The slip is iron oxide so it’ll be browny-red in the wood kiln hopefully. #pottery

The sharpie did a great job repelling the glaze and I only had to touch up a few spots with qtips to remove rogue glaze. The sharpie may leave a bit of residue when firing but for this particular piece I don’t mind if it does.
