Haven’t made one since last year, so I decided to make a new starter pack for the gamers still active here in 2025, as well as some of the main console brands and publishers. 150 accounts included!

Was browsing MeruKari the other day and decided to search for #TheGetaway …just in case…amongst all the movie dvds there was this! A promo money clip for the #PS2 game! The seller thought it was a promo item for the 70s movie lol. I had one back in the day but lost it on my move to Japan.

Just read the Cannon Fodder article in RetroGamer 269, @hkt3030.bsky.social , and it mentions the PS2 version. I “worked” on that briefly with Jon Hare, putting together a menus/gameflow visualisation in Flash. Think that’s as far as the project went before the London studio was shut down 🤔

Been updating to UE5.5.4 and I do like the fact that the code for “many lights” has been renamed to “mega lights”. lol
Some marketing guy had to have a word with a programmer “yeah, I know there are many lights but come on, we need to “sell” this sh*t right? Big it up a bit you know…” #gamedev #ue5

A collectors edition without a disc, is not a collectors edition. Going for the standard edition then. Hopefully they'll release a Steelbook.

Finally finished the Pikuma.com course 2D Game Engine with C++ and Lua. 🎉 Used Lua on KofXIII a bit but never really studied how to use it from scratch. An interesting course. Might do their PS1 programming course next…it’s been years since I did any of that #gamedev

UE combining bloom and tonemapping in the same shader thus inextricably tying them together has caused me a few problems this week lol.
I’m sure there’s a very good reason for it, but added some flags and managed to work around it 🤞 #UE5 #gamedev

Needed to remove bloom and tonemapping from my translucent materials so got stuck into the #ue5 engine code and added a new translucency render pass (after post process tonemapping). Got it working and learnt a lot of new stuff about the engine code. #gamedev #unrealengine #AGoodDay

Is it a #gamedev thing that on a day off you still end up checking work chats and thinking about how to mask out that 2D UI widget with a 3D render pass stencil buffer?
Or does everyone do that?
