Violet webcap (Cortinarius violaceus) growing under gorse today near the Devil’s Punchbowl in Surrey. An absolute stunner of a mushroom and nationally rare - it’s always good to see these beauties.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service today completed the safe control and removal of the first Asian hornet nest from a site in Cork city. It has now been transported to Dublin and handed over to scientists at the National Museum of Ireland for analysis.

For anyone contemplating creating or restoring a #wildflower #meadow on public or private land I cant recommend this guide created by our own #NBDC enough. It deals with local conditions and takes into account almost every consideration. Its top class imho👍

RESULT!
One of Swallow nest cups I placed to encourage more birds to nest has done its job! 4 healthy nestlings
We normally only have 1 nesting pair which is low for the amount of outhouses around A pair of Spotted flycatchers nested successfully in another cup weeks earlier
