Looking forward to contributing our data to @bsbibotany.bsky.social tomorrow! North Bull Island is always full of surprises 👀 We'll share our findings on here too. #NewYearPlantHunt
We've been working with @metoffice.gov.uk to analyse 10 years of #NewYearPlantHunt data.
The analysis provides the clearest evidence yet of how rising temperatures are impacting the British & Irish flora, with knock-on effects for all our wildlife.

The critically endangered Angel Shark. One of over 70 species of shark and ray in our waters. The Angel Shark was common up until 1960s. We know so little about them but we know fishing practices changed in 1970s with tangle netting... @whittledaway.bsky.social

Last night, the Bill to Ban Fox Hunting was voted down by 124 TDs (with 24 for it).
The Bill failed because FF, FG, and SF TDs all voted to keep in line with the party whip. This is not the end of the campaign. The IWT supports the growing movement to ban this cruel blood sport.

🚨 Toxic pesticides are poisoning our soils, water, and biodiversity. Now the EU wants to weaken rules.
Last week, the EU Commission published the environment omnibus + the grids package. This “simplification omnibus” is a dangerous shift.
