The problem is that the United States, right now, is NOT the beacon of freedom and democracy that Senator Scott declares it is. Ask anyone in the world, and they’ll tell you that’s been significantly tarnished over the past few years.

People have worn out "performative." We often perform things that are real, you know. Posting is a kind of performance of one's politics. Performative doesn't actually mean "fake" or "empty," it just gets deployed that way. We actually need performance. Case in point: last night's performance.

The fact that Bad Bunny's halftime show made white bigots angry and feel excluded is A GOOD THING. It's one of the best things about it. It's not a problem to solve. It's a solution to pursue. Bigots *should* feel excluded. We should find *more* ways to celebrate the reality of USian diversity.

I know it's not the point. But AI art has this really unique kind of ugliness to it. Even when it's vibrant, or convincing... when you look carefully there is this terrifying absence: Looking into the eyes of an AI avatar is like putting a small part of your soul into a meat grinder.
