The Alberta Government is normalizing the use of the notwithstanding clause in an attempt to ignore the rule of law.

Use your voice. Protect the Charter. Stand up for human rights. Democracy depends on it.

Keeping up with the UCP government's democratic transgressions can be difficult.

But not impossible.

Here’s a running list since Danielle Smith became premier. 🧵👇

It's official: Alberta now has the lowest minimum wage in the country. 🏅

The minimum wage hasn't been raised since 2018, and Danielle Smith has no plans to change this.

A committee can't build a pipeline, especially when there's no route, no proponent, and no real funding. There’s also no commitment from the federal government to repeal the legislation that would make this pipeline possible.

In Danielle Smith's own words, this is an 'utter failure.'
'An utter failure:' UCP government announces yet another committee
Danielle Smith herself said it would be “an utter failure” to have the government build a project like this, and yet here we are.

The UCP have responded to the teachers rejection of their offer…

By attacking the ATA & mischaracterizing an offer that didn’t address per student funding or classroom complexity in any meaningful way.

Because that’s worked as a comms strategy so far…

Canada Post is a service. Like other govt or quasi-govt services, it is not supposed to turn a profit. It needs to be efficient, but so do healthcare, the military, food inspection, schools, and other govt services. We subsidize it because people, businesses & remote communities rely on it. #cdnpoli

"Although the province stopped tracking class sizes in 2019, educators say anecdotally their classrooms are becoming increasingly jammed."

Honestly wild Alberta stopped tracking this data and we now have to rely on anecdotal evidence when it comes to a key issue holding up a new teachers contract.

Hey @bsky.app we've been around, migrated from app to app, and see what you're doing. This kind of policy update always precludes the banning of adult-based creators. Don't be this way, we helped you build your base up from nothing. You want adult content to stay. Fix your policies.

Lotta smug people reposting this talking about how great it is here, unaware of the shitty censorship choices coming in the new ToS. I’ll still be allowed to say “shitty” right?
1. Bluesky doesn’t downrank links
2. You can choose your own algorithm from among thousands
3. The whole app is open source

This keeps it a free and open platform by design, leading to better click-throughs and traffic to your site.

We 💙 the open web.

Wherein fiscal conservative Danielle Smith...

Justifies hundreds of millions of taxpayers dollars being spent because of her "no tabulator" law...

Then pretends to not know how tabulators work, claiming they make recounts impossible.

They just count.
