*guess* I can't complain about Quin when the Hawks are playing this well, offense without Trae is this crisp, vibes are good, etc

but these are some "Mike Woodson with his team in foul trouble"-caliber rotation decisions
Got into it on the pod but now the numbers are in...

the Wallace-Krejci-Kennard lineup was -4 in 15 (!!!!) minutes on Thursday.... even while shooting 11-22 from three.
new locked on hawks posting now...

- jalen johnson's historic night
- onyeka okongwu's historic night
- vit krejci's heater
- rocky defense that peaked at the right time
- much more

Absolutely insane goal in insane conditions in the CPL final. Absurd.

never in my life have I seen two catches that good on a single drive, much less a game-winning drive with no timeouts for the undefeated No. 2 team in the country

never

not ever

"last camp until March, it's time to finally bring Scally and Reyna back into the fold. But not *you* Yunus, we'd rather see Sean Zawadski instead" does not feel like a positive omen for Musah, sadly
Notable selections/omissions
IN: Gio Reyna, Joe Scally, Sebastian Berhalter, Jonathan Klinsmann, John Tolkin, Auston Trusty, Sean Zawadzki
OUT: Chris Richards, Weston McKennie, Matt Turner, Yunus Musah, Noahkai Banks #USMNT

maybe not the best part, but one of the very good parts is knowing he'll never have his vengeance against Diego Pavia

Gus Malzahn finished the 2019 regular season 9-3, with wins over eventual 11-2 Pac-12 champ Oregon and then-10-1 Alabama. All three Ls were to teams in the final SP+ top 7. Auburn's own SP+ finish was 9th.

So many Auburn fans wanted Gus fired that a year later, he was.

Please spare us, Hugh
after his 34th game as Auburn’s head coach — one in which his offense did not score a single touchdown against the second-worst defense in the SEC — Hugh Freeze said he wished he could ask for more patience

Gene Chizik only got 25 games after he won a national championship
Observation: Kentucky 10, Auburn 3
There's not much more to say at this point.

oh dear

that's not good
Hawks officially say that Trae Young will not return to the game with a "right knee sprain."
Trae Young is now going to the locker room.

He tried to stay in but couldn't.

Not good for the Hawks.

“I’m not just going to sort of sit here and take all the blame for something that was made out to be completely my fault…I was just upset that I wasn’t really playing.”

Gio Reyna tells AP about plans to reboot career with new club and return to US team for World Cup
Gio Reyna went to the 2022 World Cup as one of United States’ brightest young soccer stars. He came back amid controversy over his commitment and his parents’ conflict with the then-coach.

Bulls still finished 37% from deep for the game, decent but hardly unovercomeable. IYAM, probably a good idea not insert your 12th- or 13th-best player to begin the second quarter, score 23 points in the period, and lead by just one at halftime despite the Bulls bricking everything
11 threes and 7 offensive rebounds for the Bulls in the second half.

That'll do it.

Auburn wins! despite scoring one offensive touchdown from 47 possessions in Arkansas territory against the SEC's worst defense! because the defense played the most "you want something done, you gotta do it yourself"-ass fourth quarter I can recall!

War Damn!

1st-and-goal Auburn, backup QB in, RB averaging roughly 27 yards per carry, play-call is a fade, incomplete, drive ends in a FG

2 possessions later, 1st-and-goal Auburn, backup QB still in, RB still averaging roughly 27 yards per carry, play-call is play-action pass, incomplete, drive ends in a FG
a comic strip about Hugh Freeze trying not to call pass plays

Auburn took over on its own 25, ran the ball on 8 consecutive plays, and moved to Arkansas's 17

Auburn threw one pass and it was returned 89 yards for an Arkansas touchdown

Hawks' transition defense got crushed first half, went into the locker room, came out third quarter ... and got crushed even harder.

Has not felt like a good night for Quin and his staff, preparation- or adjustment-wise
End of 3: Toronto 110, Hawks 87. The locals are getting restless.

Raptors are only 6-21 from 3 and yet hung 110 (!) on Atlanta in three quarters. Just getting killed on free throws and paint points.

if you'd asked for my one-sentence Auburn preview in August, I'd have said "not actually better, but better record/vibes because they can't lose all their close games again"

lol

lmao
Auburn is 0-4 in SEC play, outscored by just 29 points.

Three 1-score losses.

considering where Auburn was when Pearl took over and where they are now, can't be mad about him choosing his own time of departure no matter how awkward it might be for the program

but I'm gonna try
BREAKING: Auburn coach Bruce Pearl is retiring, a source tells CBS Sports. It's the second straight offseason CBB has had a high-profile preseason retirement (Tony Bennett at UVa in '24.) Pearl, 65, is coming off his second F4 w/ the Tigers. His son, Steven, will be named the full-time head coach.
