between this and Tab's draw for the win, been a damn good day of Olympicing
put it in the Louvre

I like that maybe the USA women don't always win the gold medal, but when they do, they do so with the sickest move you've ever seen
February 19, 2026 at 8:57 PM
OK, you can't do full-on playoff OT, sure, but ... you can't do 4-on-4 for like 10 minutes? Are we sure?
3v3 overtime in the gold medal game is so unserious
February 19, 2026 at 8:34 PM
is xG a hockey thing, too? Not my sport, but this has felt like a classic soccer "Team A (USA) has all the possession but Team B (CAN) actually has all the good chances" type of game

which, 😟

Back in the Olympic Qualifying Event round-robin on Dec. 7, Team Peterson lost to Czechia--the weakest team in the field--to slip to 1-2. Had to win 5 straight--including vs a good Norway team--just to go to Cortina at all

Couple months later they're the 2-seed in the Olympic playoffs. Incredible
USA clinch the fourth and final semifinal spot on the women's side at #MilanoCortina2026!

Semifinal matchups on Friday, 8 am ET:
Switzerland 🇨🇭 vs USA 🇺🇸
Canada 🇨🇦 vs Sweden 🇸🇪

USA and Sweden will have the hammer.

TAB WITH THE DRAW FOR 1 AND THE WIN!!!

UNFORTUNATELY THAT END KILLED ME AND I AM DEAD
February 19, 2026 at 4:33 PM
Team Peterson's last two 10th ends, with a win in either game clinching a medal round berth:

-- Up 1 with, give up steal of 2
-- Up 3 without, give up 3

beyond brutal

but still just need 1 in the extra (though first few shots of the end have not been encouraging)

credit to Josh Hubbard for the most ridiculous half of jump-shooting I've ever seen at the college level

but that genuinely was some supremely craptastic D from Auburn. Maybe make the 5'8" dude finish at the rim instead of letting him take 12 threes in a half?

"Midnight City" seems too obvious but have to have something M83, let's do this youtu.be/w9HWsgMmYxw?...

the good part about Team Casper losing to Italy is at least it means infuriatingly losing to China doesn't really matter

beat Mouat and you're (very likely) in, lose and you're out. Straightforward! (and would've been even if they hadn't melted down vs CHN)

not really a tantrum guy, but after 4th-and-31 I laid down on the floor and didn't move for several minutes to the point my youngest asked if I was OK
let's hear some more of these Olympic Moments, what's your greatest personal sports-related tantrum
Yinz guys are special writers and always make me laugh.......

This is beyond relatable

I rolled a bowling bowl across a parking lot and into the woods. I drove home in my bowling shoes. I haven't picked a ball up since. Almost 24 years.

can kind of see it on the videoboard here, the moment when a 41-year-old with 3 silvers and 2 bronzes wins her first gold

holy hell it was awesome
SHE DID IT!!!!!

GOLD FOR ELANA!

claiming that joining the MAC will generate $975 million might be the fakest economic impact number I have ever seen

Beat Denmark and Team GB -- not easy, but doable -- and you're in. Lose either and you've got to beat the Swiss, and that is ... less doable
Updated women's curling standings at #MilanoCortina2026:

SWE 6-0
KOR 4-2
SUI 4-2
USA 4-2
CAN 3-3
DEN 3-3
CHN 2-4
GBR 2-4
ITA 1-5
JPN 1-5

Top four teams make the semifinals.

Waylp: US women curl a terrible game, lose 7-2 in 9 to previously winless Italy

L there isn't terribly shocking: Italians are a decent team and weren't going to keep playing as badly as they had been (especially on home ice), US maybe due for an off-game.

But that wasn't even close, unfortunately

Team Casper will need to play a lot better to beat teams that aren't Czechia, but holding your nerve to make the 8th-end shots to beat Czechia is a heck of a lot better than not doing that

Allowing ~1.3 points a trip to Alabama because they hit a stupid number of contested 3s and finished at >50% from deep is bad luck

Allowing 1.3 points a trip to Vandy when they hit under 35% from 3 is bad defense. Bad, bad, bad

97% in a mixed doubles gold medal game are you freaking kidding me
The lights were NOT too bright 🫡 🥇

Quintessential "team A didn't lose this, team B won it." Dropkin and Thiesse were incredible, even that last miss was only a miss by an inch or two.

Bella was just too good
Sweden absolutely deserves it. Isabella was freaking flawless.

In mixed doubles, curlers spend the entire game throwing to the center. The trickiest part of the power play can be that very first stone, throwing a draw on a line you likely haven't seen the entire game. Exactly what we saw with Thiesse's first rock.

could Team USA's curling opponents please stop making outrageously difficult draws
